Possibly a bad ground? Try using different grounds.

My driver side would only come on for a second and turn off sometimes not even turn on. They're sending me a new bulb hoping that will fix te issue. Let me know what yours turns ou to be

Sounds good, I will. So far I swapped the ballasts from driver to passenger. . Went for a drive and it didn't go out. Guess I need more drive time to see for sure what happens.

    Hey guys,

Just working on my D2S retro this weekend. I was wondering about this washer in the photo... I've read that people are modifying them because in the original form they don't get the rotation right for the projectors. If that is the case what is the function of even using the washer? If it is important to use it can I just grind off the inner nub that fits in the channel of the projector threads instead of grinding the three inner tabs?

I can't see any argument being made about losing the rotation setting down the road since grinding the three tabs down will also allow for it to loose it's setting if the nut was to come loose. I'm also going to put a dab of epoxy on the nut and threads just for extra insurance.

Anyway was just wondering about that... Pic of the washer below.

Yeah you're supposed to grind it down since toyota uses a slight rotation. The 3 slots just slide into the housing and gives you extra "meat" when tightening it down.

Just grind off the inside tab--not sure why you would want to grind down the outside three tabs at all. :)

Recently, I noticed that my drivers side FX-R headlight is slightly dimmer than my passenger side one. Originally I thought I had a bad connection so I double checked all connections and they were all good.
Then I proceeded to purchase a new Philips HID bulb in hopes that it was a bad bulb. However, that didn't work and the driver's side is still dim. I checked the ground wire and it appears to be properly grounded. There is no noticeable flickering so I'm beginning to suspect a bad ballast.

I would appreciate any insight! Thanks

I doubt it's the ballast to be honest, but you can confirm / deny by simply swapping out the ballasts from side to side. Please let us know what you find out!

Andrew, I'm having an issue passing state inspection with my mini d2s, is there anything you know of that could prevent me from putting a halogen bulb in? Obviously I would bypass the ballasts and just connect to the stock hardware. I'm trying to find the most cost effective way to pass

The bulbs are hid when they are supposed to be halogen. They've also said since they are retrofitted that they are no longer DOT approved. I've failed twice now and I need to get it to pass

Go somewhere else, and don't tell them they're retrofitted VA is stupid when it comes to inspections. If the next person asks tell them they're halogens
