Not that ridiculous. They do the same thing with the Shift knob set for some special edition FJ cruiser. Trail Team edition or something? Its a tough get, and fetches high dollar.

Where? I didn't know they sold the suspension.
Also, couldn't it vary from dealer to dealer? My thought is that if they sold people everything it took to look like a Pro... They wouldn't sell many pros.

    This ^^^^

Why are people getting upset that Toyota won't sell the parts for a limited release truck? Do you not think that Toyota realizes that buyers could simply purchase an SR5 and strap on the TRD Pro parts to make there own TRD Pro, which would fudge Toyota over profit wise? Or do you think Toyota does these limited edition things to lose money?

    +1

Personally I'd be more likely to try and track down that blacked out TRD tailgate badging more than the grill...

why are people such Toyota fans that they get mad when someone wants a genuine Toyota part and not pay out their ass for it? i think Toyota has a right to charge whatever they want and i think people have the right to express frustration if the price is outrageous. it's just the market sorting itself out. quit being such a super-fan.

That was quite the afternoon. Had to hand crank all that water out of the block. Funny thing was that truck ran MUCH better after it got swamped!

Don't get mad brah. I'm saying that Toyota is making a logical choice by not selling you this "toyota genuine part" because it would push a few people towards buying a fake TRD Pro over a real TRD Pro. By law Toyota is only obligated to sell you the parts that came stock on your truck. Did a TRD Pro grill come stock on your truck? No it did not :D.

How am I being a superfan? I'm just thinking this problem through logically from Toyota's perspective. As others have said Ford (Raptor) and Dodge (Powerwagon) have done the same thing...

    Quit being such an ass.

Shortish story on how you ended up cab deep in wet stuff? Out of curiosity, how'd the lovely on your tailgate enjoy that afternoon? She looks like she doesn't want to kill you, so that's good.

not mad, just thought some folks kind of got down OP's throat for no good reason. to me it makes more sense to advocate for the consumer since we're all pretty much consumers. it makes less sense to me to defend a corporation.

This was back when I was living in Cali. It was her truck and she was "just trying to get down to the beach" when the truck "sank in an area I've driven across many times without any problem".

I was at work and drove down there and found her like that. She had crawled out through the back of the cab and into the bed and was just chilling on the tailgate. It was hilarious. After taking a lot of photos I pulled her out and had it towed home. Horn never worked again.

I'd buy it because it's easier to make a satoshi style grille for 2012+ models with it. The changes Toyota made to it gives you a much better starting point to work off of for creating the recessing shroud.

I asked our local Toyota parts guy and he looked it up, they weren't near that expensive.

A TRD OR built into a Baja/PRO hybrid

Funny thing you mention this. Going off TRDParts4U, they are showing the Gunmetal TRD beadlock style rims as available for order now. While the Baja's were having their run, ordering a set of these was all but impossible. They were on heavy lock down.

Now, the Pro is out, and they are showing limited availability of the Black TRD wheels. Before the black wheels were hard to get but they were out there and easier to order a full set from the dealer.

So maybe once the hype dies down, it'll open up a window of opportunity for the grill. My question is how the black plastic insert that makes it unique attaches to the colored surround. The grill comes unpainted, but if it attaches the same as the other OEM grills, then those of us who already went color matched only have to swap out center inserts. It should be the same honestly, but you never know.

You can, at least without the word 'Pro' at the end of it.

    Black

    That's hopeful considering....

The suspension is listed in the website posted a few pages back. Exhaust, emblem and skid plate you can get then in Amazon, wheels at local or online Toyota part stores. I really don't think it would effect sales, as I think those looking to buy parts already own a Tacoma and if you didn't own one, I'm guessing it would cost less to buy the Pro than trying to replicate it with genuine toyota parts.

If I'm not mistaken don't you also need vin# to get the trail team FJS wheels from Toyota?
