Does anyone have any ideas how to install or where to get a cassette tape player that will tie into the factory 6 disc 6 speaker system on a 09 4 door long bed sport tacoma. I would like it to fit under the stock dash unit.
    Thanks in advance.

it will be harder if you want to use the stock stereo. i would agree that simply moving to another format would be easier but if you are really stuck on the cassette thing if you have an aux input (i believe the 09s do) you could just buy a portable cassette player and used an aux dubbing wire (looks like a headphone plug on both sides) and simply plug into the stock deck. another way would be a fm transmitter, and the only other way i can think of is some of the ipod adapters will add a aux input (if you don't have one on the stock deck) then you could plug the cassette player in that way.

thats about all i can think of- well that or just get a casette player boom box and sit it in the passenger seat :p

the wiring MIGHT be similar (i would research) but the mounting would definitely be different... if someone would go to that much trouble i would very much recommend that they just get a after-market head unit

Sorry, I was being sarcastic. Just wondering the same; why a cassette player? We have so many options with 10x better quality, I don't even think you can buy a new HU that plays cassettes

to play cassette tapes silly! :p

i didn't care to ask, maybe he has a TON of old cassettes that he doesn't want to get rid of yet.

no, cd or download only... however i think you MIGHT be able to still buy blank ones for personal recording

yes, some companies still make cassette tape decks... even if they stopped manufacturing them there are enough on the market NIB that they shouldn't be too hard to find

    good point.

    wikipedia says:

Most of the major U.S. Music/Record Companies had discontinued them by late 2003. However, as of 2009, blank cassettes are still being produced and are sold at many retail stores, and facilities for cassette duplication remain available.

Cassette is a French word meaning "little box."
