Those are his 35x12.5r15s with Summit racing wheels 15x8" with 3.75'' BS and 1'' wheel spacers.

You'll need 4'' BS minimum with 12.5'' wide tires on an 8'' wide rim to keep it off the UCA. But most likely still need a spacer to keep the tires off the frame.

Hmm... I got 3.5" BS with the 12.5 but have a 7" wide rim. Have Allpro UCA's ordered.

Shouldn't run them with a 7" wide rim. Youll have to run the tires at a super low pressure to get even wear.

But the bs should be fine I bet

Yeah I know they aren't recommended for a 7" rim... Will have to throw them on soon enough to find out for sure.

^^^ whatever everyone else said.

Well the cover I got said 'water repellent' but it's apparently not. So I sprayed everything down that wasn't painted to protect it from this shitty Wisconsin weather for the time being. I took a side shot and some measurements while I was at it.

Not that it matter much, but the frame is 24.5" at the rear body mount and 27" at the front. And I managed to keep the 123" Tacoma wheelbase. :D

Started tearing down the engine some more (don't worry Monte, I'll be better organized this time around :p). And holy balls. Still finding that damned mud. It was packed around the injectors.

Inside the valve cover is looking pretty clean I guess.

Mud in the injectors??? awesome..God what a shit show that day was. I managed to top it though the weekend my first LBJ exploded. Was horrible with my dad. Shoveled 4-5" off the hood alone haha

    I do have to ask...

Why are you tearing the motor apart..aside from boredom? :p you planning on forged internals..new bearings?? Cams? Port job??

For now, I felt it would be a good time to detail it and get to know it better. There are seals/gaskets that have to be replaced sooner rather than later, and I'm paranoid that I got crap inside while it's been hanging out in the garage for the last year and a half.

But I do want to do a few upgrades. Head studs among other things, but now's the time I start reading up and figuring out wheat else should be upgraded before the turbo is installed. Cams, forged internals, etc...

    What shit show?? :anonymous:

Haha! God..that was crazy. Good times

Really depends on power figures you are going for.

Decking the block and head and getting a metal head gasket would be nice. Porting the head too. But everything else is relative to wanted power. And of course...how deep the pockets are

Yeah, I'm not trying to squeeze every last ounce of HP out of it. I really just want to do the things that make sense... if that makes sense. I don't want to spend $3k on a stage 3 cylinder head, but if there's porting I (or a local shop) can do, replace valve springs, cams or whatever that can bring up the performance of the engine without costing as much as the rest of the truck, then I'm open to it. Replacing parts that are prone to failure is another aspect I need to consider. (forged internals like you mentioned.)

Wonder how a 3.4 would sound with a mild cam(s).

Nice truck Jon. Do you have your tranny in? Is the gas door welded shut?

Doing a metal head gasket would be nice to help with the boost and a valve job would be cool just to help flow a tad.

Sadly to do a MHG you have to tear the motor totally down.

But then you could do forged Pistons if ya wanted and you'd do all new bearings. New main studs and such.

Idk what kind of cams are available either or if oversized valves are.

Wouldn't be cheap though. It easy to start the dive down that rabbit hole and end up too far

Truck looks great. Did you build it or buy it already built?

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
ARP studs are good for 300-400 hp generally with the 2.4L IIRC. The 2.7 wasn't a favorite for turbo builds due to the low revs and the longer rods were easier to break. I would recommend more aggressive cams, and modding your ECU to raise the RPM's in addition to the head studs (ill have to find the write up but its basically soldering a different resister on your ECU I believe. Forged rods are a good investment to consider as well.
