You have mig with gas or just using flux

 

Flux, I'll upgrade when I can find a tank that's not a million dollars.

 

I have a mig welder, just no gas.

 

That's why it looks like it was done with an arc minus the slag

 

There's slag all over, just not that paticular spot, lol.

 

Looks OK to me . I would say not alot of heavy grinding on it . Use a old wood chisel & a wire brush to clean up some of the slag

as the picture is oriented, it looks great on the vertical tube. horizontal tube has adequate penetration, but could use some more. since this weld is at the very end of the vertical tube, and the corner of the horizontal one, the horizontal one will require more heat. try angling the gun more directly at the horizontal piece, or in other orientations, towards the one that has the un-cut corner being welded to.

Sure thing!

45 degrees downwards puts the majority of heat into the vertical tube. because the horizontal one has a larger cross sectional area, try to split them 50/50, and aim the gun perpendicular to the face of the weld. if the two tubes are the same wall thickness, you'll want to spend a little more time over the horizontal tube when making your weld.

 

Is that not that more for stick, Flux is more even heat anyway

Any of you guys mounted an LED Bar in the lower grill or behind a grill?? Ive got a 20 inch and 2 duallys and I want to ditch my nfab bar.
