Hey, I bought a 2014 Tacoma in June. It's the TRD quad cab. From day one I've had a "tinny" rattle coming from the dash. The dealer can't find where it's coming from so they won't look anymore! I'm about to ghost ride this truck into a lake!

anyone else with this issue?Any help and or suggestions would be great.

    Thanks

    Kevin

Take it elsewhere, I'd think. If I had to tear into the dash of a brand new truck I'd be pretty pissed off.

My rattle was a failed catalytic converter. Yours could be anything, really. Complain louder, IMO.

If it sounds like it comes from the top center of the dash, try pressing your hand on the dash when you go over bumps. If it goes away with your hand there, I know how to fix it, because I fixed mine.

I have the same rattle. Seems like it's more of an issue when my interior is warm from the sun. Rattle sounds like it is coming from the top middle of the dash by the radio area.

I had a rattle coming under the glovebox. There is a plastic sheath with a bundle of wires there. Used about four zip ties and tightened it up. Now rattle free. Found it through research on the forum. Now, my problem seems to be drivers door will not seal and I hear vibrations an extra road noise from there. Maybe this truck was meant to have a rattle or two from somewhere!

p.s. I was also told today there would be a recall on the leaf springs for the '13 and '14 models because those are creaky as hell as well!

It does sound like a tin can inside but a nice one, I had the same rattles when I bought mine, I fixed them one by one. My dash rattled in 2 spots, nav screen bezel and center next to the windshield.
I had the bezel rattle fixed by the dealer but did not want them tearing out my dash. I cut a half inch thick piece of black rubber into a 3/4 by 3/4 by 3/4 inch triangle and wedged it between the dash and windshield, that fixed it, can't really tell it's there if you center it.
    Good luck

Never heard of dash rattles before. Glad I don't have one.

So I'm not alone. I bought my 14' TRD Sport Access Cab a month ago and I have a few annoying rattles. They're not there all the time but enough to piss me off.

The most common rattle I believe is coming from the passenger side access door. I'll be tearing into that this weekend. You pay 30K+ for a vehicle, you wouldn't expect to deal with stuff like this so quickly.

I had a couple coming from underneath. One is the "brush guard" and the other is the spare tire chain.

    Meh... turn up the radio.

    Wait no more, sir!!

I took two pieces of 1/4" thick x 3/4" wide x 12" long foam gasket material and stuffed it in between the window and the dash.

    Rattle = gone

Toyota has programmed this rattle into every 2nd Gen truck. Its kind of like an identity thing for them....

I've chased this in two trucks and now have rattle free dashes. The one that is the most fun to find is that which either comes or goes as the temperature changes.
