    It is, but auto tranny coolers are in the radiator. It's a wear item, I've got a link somewhere off someone cutting one open, tons of buildup.

    It's just something I've gotten into the habit of replacing when I buy a used vehicle. You never know whether the previous owner changed the coolant on a regular basis or used the correct kind of coolant or dropped crud into it. You can't see inside of it to see clogs, etc so I usually replace them.

    Very smart. Plus the plastic radiator tanks are prone to cracking.

    I usually cut my stuff open to see how bad it was but after doing the timing belt and water pump I was too tired to screw with it last night. Here's an extreme example of build-up inside a radiator:

    Exactly, most people never change them unless they leak. Definitely worth the $150 or so. I did mine when I did my timing belt but had to re install the old one cause the new one leaked. When I finally did swap it the temp dropped almost 10 degrees.

    Sorry dude, if I can find a DC 1st Gen in something other than red/white w/ low miles then I might be stickin round' the 1st Gen scene, otherwise it's off to neverland for me :eek:
