Cool dude.. what are you tinting to? I put 20% up front, to match the rears. My dog likes to rub her wet nose all over the rear windows and I figured tint would just get abused back there so I left it.

I don't know. I need to get with a CHIP to see what tint is acceptable to most reasonable cops. Maybe Limo in the back, not sure.

I say get the 16, they will fix any serious bugs for you. Be the first on the block to have it. I bought the first FJ that I saw. It had some flaws but I never noticed them, I was too happy! Engineering and testing is so well done these days the risk is low.

    I'm changing my vote.

It's only two years until Miley Cyrus and Hunter Pence co-star in a movie about post apocalyptic baseball where "the big one" has struck and everything East of the Sierra Nevada has fallen into the atlantic ocean. Miley and Hunter keep moving around what's left of California in a beat up 64 Corvair staying in places where they make a living scraping by while she dances for tips in sleazy nightclubs and he runs a small business exterminating gigantic mutant spiders that carry away pets and small children weighing less than twelve pounds. He stares into their eyes to hypnotize them and then clobbers them with a baseball bat. But Miley and Hunter have to keep moving because they're being pursued by a pyromaniac arsonist who nurses a sick fantasy about burning up Miley while she's tied to a California Madrone tree, and they know he's getting close whenever "unexplained" wildfires start popping up.

The movie will be so bad it'll cause a stock market collapse and self-fulfill it's own apocalyptic future (except for that Atlantic Ocean thing) so you might as well blow all your money now on new cars and beach surf equipment.

I should go back and edit. I said June, I meant August.

FWIW, unless you're buddies with one (or more) they'll tell you that no tint is legal on the front windows. You can have triple limo tint on the rear windows, but any tint on the front doors or windshield is illegal.

I've had 20% on mine for over a year and haven't had an issue, but I wouldn't go any darker. I couldn't decide between 35% (less risk for ticket) and 20% (much more risk) but I've been lucky so far.

If you have 5% in the rear windows though, I wouldn't go darker than 35% up front since you're cutting down so much light to the cabin, your 35% tint might look as dark as my 20% at that point.

In fact, I'd say cash in your 401K too. Get a Corvette to accompany the Tacoma. In four months most of us will be bleeding out our eyes and dying lonely quarantined deaths in smelly beds.

I got a peek at the script. They were looking for investors.

    Get 35%.

I can send you pics of my 20% windows, if it helps. You'll need to keep in mind though that they'd be a lot darker if I had 5% on my rears like you are considering.

So... Limo in the rear makes the front look darker?

You're cutting down on the light that enters the cab of the truck when you apply tint, just like at night time when you can't see into your windows as much as the day time. Same concept. Difference is you can't see as much in day time, too.

About getting a ticket... It's a crap shoot anyway. I went seven years without current tags once, and 11 years o a Brand X with no front plate.

Pretty much. I think I've been lucky since I drive like an old man. 22k miles, mostly all highway and I've never been stopped by CHP, local cops don't really care where I live, seems like the CHP are the main enforcers.

I'll probably just go fairly conservative, but I really want to cut visibility into the back seat area. I'll be carrying some valuable tools and stuff at times.
