After all is said and done......Profit is not a dirty word...in fact our country was founded on it. Capitalism baby. Toyotas are the best on the road and they cost more than some others. To get one you have to paY. Why is it ok in the publics eye to make a profit on anything but a car?

Profit isn't the issue, its when you don't stop there, you keep lieing to get more profit... too much is not enough. To you Customer means profit bag to be fleeced to the last penny. As we speak you know within yourself the hipocrasy of your invalid lament. Or you are just one of us out to stir up a hot thread.

    ergo dealers are stealers.

No lie is possible. they check credit, paychecks etc. Therefore ,and irrefutable, all lies ever told in a dealership ,99% ....+/-1%, are spewed from the sales team.:p

All i do is sell the car...I dont build it or price it........as for after sells.....if your too weak to say no to a F&I guy about undercoating or extended warranty then that is on you.

Oh i did say no on the warranty and add ons. Don't understand why you think I bought them.
I left after 3 hrs I think the first day, left them my number to show I am ernest about the buy and they called back.
Admit it Markola, if you are a car salesman, why cant a $21k truck with a $8k trade = $13k instead they hide behind a start point of $500 a month secretly not showing thier 84 months on paper( i told em sounds good for 24 months just to piss into their game). you wont admit to the lies, a savvy buyer exposes them or just leaves. OHH thats why they leave you in 5 minutes they see you as a buyer stroker

Hey Dwzild. thanks for the hot thread lol. Best of luck with the truck, you'll get it i'm sure. Be patient and be wary, the truck is worth it.
Marcola , see both sides, you are due some profit to be sure, btw you have a nice Tacoma.

Thanks. I know it'll be worth it. If it wasn't, I would not be paying $30,000 for something that I don't need. My current '98 Taco runs great and have no problems with it in 8 yrs. I'm looking to get twice that out of my new one, if not more. That's why I took my time picking out and (now) waiting for the exact truck I want. 10 yrs down the road, I don't want to say "I wish I would've......."
    Well worth the wait, IMO.

If you said no to after sells then good for you. I say no too. It's a Toyota...it doesnt need an extended warranty. Undercoating...why would I want that? I hope my truck frame rusts if Toyota will buy it back.. hahahah.

Some salesman will work you on payment. Just say u want to work the price not the payment. It's easy...rufuse to be worked on payment. I work deals the way the customer wants. Some people are all payment. Others take it as an insult to be worked on payment. I do it how ever the customer wants. After all...I have no worries. I'm selling a Toyota. They can leave..go home and do some research.....but the research WILL bring them back. I am selling the best product. Only cheapskates who don't care about quality don't come back. They end up buying Hyundai or Kia. LOL

So good for you....you made the right choice buying a toyota even if it is a base cab. J/K nice truck!

Marcola, you know as well as anyone else there are plenty of scummy sales guys out there. You sound like you're on the more honest side of things - good for you. The scumbags still deserve to have their time wasted.

I can't believe this local dealership tried to sell me the factory tint. I checked the old quote - $450. AS AN OPTION. Dicks. Was the first thing they negotiated away though, oh look what bros we are! We're throwing in the tint for free! Really. They even put wheels on it so I could drive it off the lot, what a bunch of swell guys...

I dunno about any others but I know when I'm on "the job" no matter if it's selling cars, working construction, or factory work.....any kind of work.....I gotta get paid for being "on the job"

So when Im bidding a job I should be getting paid? I like the way you think.

When dealers set up there lots to attract people to come on the lot and look and your sales manager tells you that if someone comes on the lot they are there to buy, not look, so sell them a car/truck.

Hey everybody needs to make money, you just chose a profession that has a bad rap.

I have to say that when Im just looking at new trucks and a salesperson comes out and I tell them Im just looking that is the cue to leave me alone so I dont waste your precious time. Then the salesperson tells me "THEY" can put me in that truck, I say OK lets do it. So they get all excited and they ask me about payments I say "I thought you were going to pay for it" I say "you said you were going to put me in it?" They get pissed and I say "I told you I was just looking guess you should have just left me alone"

If you cant tell serious buyers from someone who is just looking around or give people space when they tell you to your face then thats too bad. The problem is when you treat a grown man like he has no clue and you see it as an easy mark. So you get what you get.

On August 8th I was at the dealership with my mother. I was looking for Tacoma. We look on the lots and I cannot find what I am looking for. Salesman come to the lots asking nice. Can I help you? I said that I am looking for 4x4 DC OR with JBL. He said he do have some but it was on hold for other customer - their name was on the paper on the dash. Salesman was helping me to get exact color and options I need. The salesmanager offer me to get 2010 with exact model I like. I deposit 500 dollar and they told me it will take 7 to 14 days. They even print the paper from the screen and contract to prove that the vehicle goes to me. I got them on August 21st and $2000 below MSRP. Happy with it.

I know some salesman are trying to be the best they can and some are not. Sometime salesman having issue with salesmanager or the boss. They also look on your credit score to get better payment options.

If I greet a customer and they tell me they are just looking...I leave them alone and let them look. Everytime. If someone wants to look I let them look. I just don't like the customers who have no intention of buying(maybe ever)...and they want me to hold their hand and take them on multiple test drives. I wish they would tell me they are just looking so I can leave them alone. You guys would be surprised as to how many people frequent car lots for no apparent reason. It's the same faces over and over. It's weird. Dealing with the public....I see all kinds. 30% are normal nice people and 70% are jackasses. But that's not a car sales thing....thats the way the world is thing. Most people are just a tad off.

Sound like you want some greedy. Customer have right to say if they want to look and you let them go. That is fine but if they do not want to buy car or truck because of their $$$$ or thought about different brand model. Sometime customer is looking for something is on "SALE". I think you like to hassle them. My toyota dealership are friendly and they are not rushing anybody to buy the vehicle.
What is your point that most of customer are jackass? You are the biggest jackass I ever heard off. That is a fact!!! No arguement.
Just like u go to the mall and look whatever you want and thought about buying it or not. That is a fact!!! No arguement.

Back in 1989 I was in the Navy. Was going on leave for my sisters wedding. Took an extra day to go to Beaverton Toyota. I sent them my meager credit data 1-2yr worth). Before i left i told em what i was looking for, they said i was good to go on that model(yea just get em in!). A bit of background, they advertized in a magazine called "Navy times" as selling fleet pricing to military.
When i get to the dealer, it was then they told me they couldnt sell me the model i wanted. They worked real hard to sell me a beat up used mini-van. Thats the short version. I left out the arguement we got into ,it almost got me arrested. The Navy times pulled their ads and I called once more to them to cuss out the P.O.S. that lied to me. There are less educated people ( as dealing and buying goes) who do fall for these tactics, they don't deserve to have their trust violated.
I'm sure thousands of people in the service have similar stories, and even more from the rest of us Americans who just are young moving up in jobs or college.
Unfortunately I have 3/4 experiences of calling the salesman on the dumbest lies and sleazy fleecing attempts.

First, can you stop bastardizing the English language. Second, I can see exactly what he's saying. He's in the market to sell cars. Not provide free rides to people not looking to buy at all.
It's exactly the same as when I worked at the restaurant. People (Generally women in their 40's or up) would come in, use up an entire 6 person table in my section and sit there drinking hot water with lemon or tea. I could make $50/hr off that table if I actually had willing patrons sitting there, but instead I have a bunch of cows coming in to a high class restaurant using up a table for starbucks conversations. I'm there to serve and make money, not give you free shit or let you spend $2 and get unlimited refills.

Called a dealer and they said they had the truck I wanted. Went there and they said, "Oh, it's here but you can't drive it because it just came off truck." They said I could buy it but not drive it yet. Classic

I will say I was really ticked about trying to shop on the net for one. No actual photo's, no actual window stickers, no option packages listed, almost no ability to sort at every local dealer I looked at online. I don't want to have to sit and wade through lists of add ons looking for a few key features to figure out which package it has. Very un user friendly.

Everyone says to use internet pricing, but I also had horrible luck with internet salesmen. When I say I am looking for 4x4 access cab v6 with TRD offroad, I didn't want a double cab or a 4x2. Two of the ones I contacted were downright rude when I said I wasn't interested in what they had on their lot that they were trying to pawn off on me since it wasn't even close to what I was asking for. I finally found one in stock and just went and bought it even though the internet salesman had completely blown me off, but frankly toyota REALLY needs to work on how they do buisness online. If I hadn't already settled on a tacoma, I probably would have not bought from toyota at all after that. I don't think i'll be eager to shop for a car online in the future. how things shape out over the next few days to settle the issue I found with my new tacoma will also determine if I ever buy a toyota again. Right now, not exactly happy but face to face so far the dealership was a lot better so far.

Funny, my purchase ended up being through an internet sale. Just gotta weed through the bogus dealers until you find a good one!

Also it REALLY helps if instead of "I want a 4x4 TRD sport" to just say " I want model xxx with PQ and TO packages on it". Learn the dealer codes, saves you a ton of time.

You're upset that they were a little too prompt with a call letting you know the vehicle you're interested in had arrived? Have a little [FONT=&quot]patience!

Vehicles arrive on a truck and have to be unloaded...then checked into inventory, then inspected, then final parts installed, etc... Many steps that take time...

Their only mistake was calling you too soon.
