Led bar up top, another tucked away in lower grille. 6" Pro Comp, 35's.

Same here. Maybe a little worse for mine.

I saw a comparison one time on some show where they did all the suspension mods to an FX-4 with the ecoboost, basically making it a slightly narrower raptor. I want to say it stayed right with the raptor in most situations and of course, got better mpg on the highway which is probably where 80% of the raptors stay. I was lucky enough to drive my buddy's on a twisty road that I was familiar with. I have to say for its size and LT, the handling was impressive. They do some pretty cool shit with the SVT package, not to mention the growl of the v8 coming out of the corners was awesome.

Raptors are over priced for what they are.

^ you could build a better F150 for a fraction of the price

Exactly. I had a friend who's dad went and looked at Raptors. He ended up buying a nice F150 and building it up himself, saved about 10k in the long run and its a beast.

price some shit out and see what the reality is.. start with a fully loaded f150, then get into it. not cheaper. how much are your 5 37's on good wheels gonna be? how much do you think full overhaul of the suspension is gonna be? long travel axles up front. oh and beef the frame up to take hits. and so on... i have an f150 with entry level fox stuff on it, it's good, takes hard hits way better than my taco with ome stuff did, drives way better on the street and gets better gas mileage with way more power. but the reality is if you are going to do any real wheeling the f150 platform is the the right choice. it is just so fat, get that pig in a trail and you feel the size. for guys playing in wide open areas i'm sure it's a fun truck. either way, my ford has just been traded and it's a 2014. pros and cons.

also when building a cheaper rig what are you starting with, an old pos truck? a truck with no warranty?

I've seen Raptors work in the oil patch and on the farm. They are truly badass machines that can actually be put to work. Most of our offroad modified trucks or pseudo dune buggy long travel setups can't do shit when it comes to actual work duty truck stuff. Just sayin.

Some of you guys are crazy... Comparing a LT Tacoma to a Raptor is like comparing a tricked out Civic to a Corvette. Ya, sure you can build a Civic with as much hp, but it's still a Civic. A LT Tacoma might be able to do real well in the desert, it might even have more wheel travel. But the Raptor isn't about being the fastest, it's about the comfort and the space. They have a wider body than a factory F150, great suspension for a show room truck, and a ton of power. It's a different market geared more toward the guy who wants to buy a nice truck and take it out and have fun, then drop it at the dealer to get the maintenance done. Not spend countless hours trying to figure out how to modify a truck with a bunch of parts that aren't designed to go together, and end up with something that looks radically modified vs. a truck that looks factory and clean. I love my Toyotas, but that's what I am in the market for. If I wanted a luxury pre-runner I could throw the wife and 2.5 kids in, and still get groceries when I was done then I would get the Raptor.

The sentiment around here is that any Toyota truck with LT is instant God's chariot.

The Bat Mobile will always be better------ even with no lift.

To each his own but the raptors have never appealed to me. Now, a 2.7 liter twin turbo eco boost engine in a taco would be sweet. Doubt it would get 30mpg in a f150 but could be within the realm of possibility for a taco. Once theyre lifted and new huge wheels and tires are installed it will probably suck fuel like every other truck now anyways .

To be honest I like the raptor a lot. What they are doing in my area though no idea. I've seen at least 4 this week. And it used to be few and far between. But I guarantee those are being used as work horses. Not off road trucks. I love my tacoma for the fact that the family can load up. Go somewhere nice get there without breaking the bank and have fun doing it if we can hit a trail on the way.

All these guys saying a full lt Taco or hell a Mt taco can't touch a raptor... 1: the C/O's on a raptor aren't even a 2.5'' and I garuntee any brand aftermarket C/O for a Tacoma will have much better valving than the a stock rap C/O. Two: the Raptor has a 2'' shock out back which is the bare minimum for a solid MT or LT shock. Not to mention a Raptor has a block in the rear for lift. If you understand a decent suspension setup you would know a MT taco can be built with better suspension components than a STOCK rap.... for way cheaper. Yes the Raptor has more travel but it's all about valving. Not to mention these trophy trucks aren't even rocking uniball UCA/LCA's. Didn't want to be that guy to get all technical and start a heated debate but had to throw this out there. Now pull an additional 180 HP from the little 4.0 and there wouldn't be any questions. But that's if unicorns and fairys existed. Once again Apples to oranges hard to compare the two. I wouldn't mind owning a raptor to say I own one but that's about it: it's a cool truck.

You have no idea what your talking about. Fox and ford spent more time than anyone with a tacoma on valving and tuning the raptor out of the box. The shocks are custom tuned internal bypasses that put your 2.0" coilover to shame. Ford beefed up the entire frame to handle being jumped repeatedly and still able to turn it in to a dealership for warranty if something goes wrong. They teach you how to jump the truck if you go to "raptor school," how many tacos have you seen threads on with sheared spindles, upper and lower control arm mounting points bent or sheared, etc. a lot. I love my tacoma but it is not a raptor, nor would it be without 20k in parts (really 30k if you try to get the motor in the same ballpark) and a lot of work, and still not as reliable as a raptor. Any for the record I have had multiple heavily modified off road vehicles including a buggy and my dad has a raptor, I know something about off road vehicles.
