I see one potential problem with this statement in the lawsuit:

"manufactured with frames that lack adequate rust corrosion protection and, as a result, the frames are prone to experiencing excessive rust corrosion"

I'm not so sure this issue is actually due to their rust corrosion protetction. In my opinion it's related to the cheap quality of the recycled steel itself, not necessarily a lack of rust corrosion protection or coating. They do offer undercoatings and already have a campaign out to offer free coatings in some areas.

I don't see this guy winning anything for a class action on a vehicle excessively rusting, there are just to many variables at play and some older trucks in Arizona and dry climates probably still look nearly perfect.

    Hi,

I'm trying to get some help with my 2006 Tacoma frame rust issue. My truck was purchased new at Crestmont Toyota in New Jersey. It was in New Jersey up until 2012. The truck is now located in Charleston, SC. I've had the dealer here look at it. The Southeast rep said there's nothing they can do for me. The whole frame looks bad. The attached picture is of the driver side catalytic converter area.

Basically a big F%#K YOU from Toyota!

Hopefully, this forces toyota to act and fix all of the trucks affected, but don't hold your breath or think about what your trade in/for sale value really is once they see the frame...

Well, As I just Fluid Filmed my 2012, I'll be sure to keep all the receipts for the F Film and the app gear. Hopefully we will not have problems with the later years - but if they do I'm saving my receipts for a possible reimbursement ...

I think you have probably hit the nail on the head. LOTS of vehicles don't have any paint left on their frames but they don't rust like that. All of the pics I have seen that we're bad looked like the rust is coming from under the paint, within the metal, not from surface rust eating down into the metal.

How does this not qualify for the Limited Service Campaign? I would call or send a letter to the service manager of the NJ dealership to see if they can assist.

Because SC is not a "cold weather climate state."

I understand that SC is not in the list of covered states, yet you can prove that it was purchased and registered in a covered state for many years. Have you contacted your original dealer?

Going to give them a call tomorrow. I guess they don't think people move from state to state on occasion!

I'm following this with interest .....

I'm thinking that Toyota, indirectly, confirms a problem with the frames by the current LSC inspections/CRC/replacements??

They have "compensated" a "select few" using their own criteria and, arguably, the worst affected customers first. This is all well and good, but, unless Toyota, eventually, extends this to ALL customers which will need frame replacements (per their own inspection Criteria) would they not be obligated to insure all customers which need the LSC, regardless of their "current" physical vehicle location, be similarly assisted?? If not, is the LSC assisting ONLY select owners which Toyota alone is choosing?

There seems to be an inequity in financial compensation that probably, at the minimum, affect Many customers and undoubtedly cause legal action as a result?
