A better pic of the frame rail. That crossmember will be barrels of fun to handle when I drop the transmission in a few weeks.

So that's how they're supposed to do it. Look, nothing on the engine or suspension! It's on the frame, where they were supposed to coat it. I was never worried about my A-arms rusting out!

Correct, it is stated in the LSC but it has not had final approval in VA, MD, and I believe PA as of yet. Still waiting on enough frames to be built and shipped to those states as well.

Don't quote me but if memory services me correctly, recalls have to be approved by state legislature as well. Anyone confirm/deny that?

HB- I've heard that state legislature is supposed to approve it too. I've also heard there is a good back order on the frames but that could all be BS...

Jeff- check the frame next to the cats. That's the biggest area it shows up.

I read somewhere here that a good way to get your issue looked at was to write a Yelp review. Well I did just that on Saturday. Today, the service manager at Miller Toyota called and asked me to bring the truck up on Thursday so they could inspect it. Apparently, the owner of Miller saw the review. We'll see how it goes. I was told about welding plates and whatnot over the holes; somehow that ain't gonna happen..

Does anyone know if the EOD service campaign is in effect in Pa yet??? Reason I'm asking is because my 06 Reg cab 4X4 was in to local dealership for spiral cable recall and gas pedal modifaction and while they I had them do a Pa inspection.. Was informed it failed due to frame perferation .. I called Toyota corporation and was told they are sorry but nothing they can do.. My frame is a mess layers and layers of scale all over and the big rotting tear is on passenger side next to cat.. I have a hard time loading photos so if you would like to look at it check out my post earlier this month and feel free to add photos here if you guys can .. My other post is "My 06 Tacoma failed inspection miserably"

Just curious - how do you find a lawyer that would know how to wake Toyota up ? There are millions of lawyers they usually specialize in something and know nothing about anything else. If anyone has a good answer I would spend the $$.

What gets me is they were so concerned about my air bag not working because light was on because of spiral cable recall.. Said take it to dealer asap its a serious safety issue. . Yet when dealer went to inspect my truck and saw frame was rotted out Toyota cooperation said " We understand your frustration but there is nothing we can do" Guess thats not a safety issue... Other thing is rear leaf spring has to be replaced due to a recall once again safety issue. . I asked " How am I supposed to get my truck there that is unfit for the road" I was told " Thats not there concern" They would not tell me why my vin shows nothing about this service campaign. . Im curious as to if they started doing Tacoma under this campaign in Pa yet

    Dear Mr. Fuller,

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

As we had previously indicated though your SoutheastToyota factory representative, your vehicle is out of warranty, there are no known issues or current recalls relating to frame rust for your 2006 Tacoma, and we would be unwilling to offer you any compensation for any repairs to the vehicle. While we can understand your dissatisfaction with this decision, it does represent Toyota's final position in this matter.

We again apologize for the situation you encountered with your 2006 Tacoma, and we are sorry for any inconvenience or expense you may incur.

Your email has been documented at our NationalHeadquarters under file #1409161201.

    Sincerely,

    Roy G.

    Hi,

I'm trying to get some help with my 2006 Tacoma frame rust issue. My truck was purchased new at Crestmont Toyota in New Jersey. It was in New Jersey up until 2012. The truck is now located in Charleston, SC. I've had the dealer here look at it. The Southeast rep said there's nothing they can do for me. The whole frame looks bad. The attached picture is of the driver side catalytic converter area.

    Basically a big f#%k you!!!!!!!!!!

This whole episode is akin to getting raped in the ass without lube. Toyota refuses to do a goddamn thing; this service campaign should've been opened to any and all that have rusted frames, regardless of where the vehicle is.

The rusted frames didn't just happen overnight, it's been an ongoing issue across different toyota models yet they drag their goddamn feet and take their sweet ass time getting around to making it right.

I went to my local dealer this morning; I'd posted a yelp review about the service dept refusing to look at my frame back in May so 3 days later, they called and asked me to bring it in...
Basically I wasted an hour or so for the same information I had already gotten before. No campaign, tough shit. It definitely won't pass inspection next April, deemed unsafe to drive, "if you get into a wreck, the truck may not do what it's supposed to do..." Yet here are the keys, take it home.. They were only concerned about the damn yelp review than fixing the truck, even asked me to take it down.. Fucking load of horseshit.

I hope I do get in a wreck, I hope there are other people in the truck with me, I hope the goddamn thing folds up like a cheap deck of cards because of the shitty frame and toyota and the dealers refusal to do a damn thing about fixing it and everyone else who are stuck with a fucked up piece of shit truck.

Just got my truck back. Saratoga Springs, NY.

They covered the entire exterior of my silver doublecab with the stuff. A mist on literally every single square inch. I went back in and they said it is hard to avoid that, but they would clean it the next day. Offered the rental. I said I did not want it setting up being such a light coat. So I went off to the car wash and then came back to get new wipers and give them the receipts. They got it on the wheels as well. The car wash guys were great. Helped out alot to get the heavy spots. Took two full washes. One manual and one through the auto wash (no undercarriage). It is water soluble, but did not come off without alot of work. I had a shammy so I dried it and went back to dealer. We agreed it was 90% there and I clay barred it at home and it is fine now. Smells horrible inside though. Burning off the manifolds and cats.

All night the thing dripped on my garage floor. White and Black stuff. I expect it to be wet for some time. It looks like it will not be drying soon or ever. They did not do my rear axle, and I am glad as even at 6 years old it looks good as new. Working underneath will present a new challenge for the foreseeable future.

Not sure why the "Kit" does not come with a simple cheap cover to throw over the body? I understand there is no easy way to do this, but on the exterior? Come on man, that is just dumb.

So beware, some of these places are half-assing it.

I only respond since I've bought 2 Tacomas from Crestmont Toyota in New Jersey. They gave me 1 and half X book for the 1st one and I've been religious about the 2nd one knowing what shitty frames they buy. Your problem might be that U R in SC. They are replacing frames here in NJ again. They do this ever 7 or 8 years.

    George3,
How's the service department at Crestmont? My next step was to try and go through them, although they are 12hrs away from me. At this point, I wish the damn thing would just catch on fire and burn to the ground!

I guess that you have to make a road trip to nj. That sucks but might get you a new frame.I would get the nj factory rep involved also. They have a liability here.

Anyone who hasn't done so, go here and register your truck, with your VIN number.

    http://www.toyota.com/owners/

Once you register, go to the "Resources" tab and then down to "Safety Recalls & Service Campaigns".

This will bring up all Recalls, LSC's, etc. that are available for your vin. For reference, this is what my page currently looks like:
