    hi everyone,

    I'm planning on getting 285/75r16 size tires and I read some where that increasing tire size decreases acceleration, torque, mpg, and overall engine performance. So considering going from 30 to 33 seems to be a pretty common thing on this site, is it a common thing to do after a tire upgrade?
    does anyone experience these performance issues after the tire/wheel change?

    I haven't found too many posts regarding this subject and I figured I'd ask since the whole re-gearing/differential-swap process seems really expensive.

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Anytime I change tire size by 10% or more, I change gear ratio accordingly. Its not "needed", but it sure helps. Plus, you can choose the gear ratio YOU want, not what the factory gives you. Most times, I get a ratio slightly lower (numerically higher) than OEM for better performance.

    i didnt change mine, running 285/70/17's from stock 265/65/17's. usually once you go up to 35's you should get different gears

    i've got 285/75/16 km2s and i'm not happy with the mileage drop so I plan to regear as soon as i can get the money together.

    Nope. I dont quite have the patience to do diffs. :eek: Going to 4:10's would work great with a 33" tire. If I go to 33's, thats the ratio Im going to. :)

    Generally, after you regear closer to OEM, mpg returns to near stock.

    I want to do the regearing but its so expensive. Definitely not a cheap mod. Especially if you cant install it yourself.

    not lookin forward to the maintenance im gonna have to do on the lift in the future. plus i gotta worry about my cv joint boots tearing eventually which means a really fun time replacing them.

    at first it was the crappy ride, but i quickly realized i have a spacer/block lift so it can get MUCH better with a little more money.

    yeah its definitely not gonna be cheap. my plan is to remove the differential myself (well..technically the bf will do that) and just bring that in so it shaves some labor time off for the shop. hopefully it works :thumbsup:
