Pop & Lock 05-07 Access Cab wire help

I have a 2006 Access cab. I installed a pop and lock

$107 PL8521 Pop & Lock – Power Tailgate Lock for Toyota Tacoma, Fits Models 2005 to 2015 (PL8521)

PL8521 and cant seem to figure out the wiring. There are 2 harnesses running into the driver door. The instructions call for the blue/white and blue/pink to be tapped into. I do not have the 2 in the same harness. is this correct?

The blue/white is the lock and grey in the same harness is unlock.

What is the blue/pink wires function? Anyone with a 05-07 access cab, what colours did you use?

I wired the harness into the blue/white and blue/pink wires that are leading into the driver door under the kick panel. When i connect the wires to the actuator the truck doors lock, and continue to try to lock (you can here the doors clicking, like what would happen if the truck was locked and you kept hitting the lock button).

I am not clear if i have it connected to the wrong wires or there is something wrong with the actuator?

Any assistance is appreciated.

 

Why not call the company that makes the product rather than waiting weeks for a response here that may never come?

 

i have been away on holidays. i emailed the company today.

 

after 1 call and 2 emails with no response from the company i spent a long ass time trying to figure out the proper wiring. The correct wires on my truck was blue/pink and blue/black (not blue/white) per the instructions.

 

Using a multimeter it shouldn't have taken more than 2min.

For anyone coming on here for actual advice, and not able to figure everything out in 2 minutes (I know we are not all great with electrical. Or maybe it's just me?) Here is the instructions from the manufacturer I received regarding 05-07 Tacoma's:

Is your truck a 4 door or a 2 door?* You may need to be looking for a blue with a black stripe and a blue with a pink stripe.* If you have a test light or multi-meter you can test the wires prior to tapping onto them.*
-To test with a test light, ground the clamp end and probe the wire at the plug.* Hit the lock and unlock button. When on the correct wire the test light will flash, one wire when you hit the lock button and the other one when you hit the unlock button.* Those will be the two wires to tap onto.*
-If you are using a multi meter it will be the same concept, except ground the black lead and probe with the red lead on DC voltage set for 20 Vdc. *When you hit the buttons you will see the meter jump up to a voltage and come right back down.* You will probably see a different voltage each time since meters are not fastest enough to read the exact voltage but tells you it is flashing voltage.* So again one wire should flash when hit the lock and the other when hit unlock.*

You can test the actuator by hooking it directly to the truck battery.* Touch and hold one lead to the positive and the other one just touch to the negative and that will drive the actuator one direction.* You can then flip the wires. Touch and hold the one that you touched on the negative and hold it on the positive and then just touch the one that was on the positive to the negative.* This will drive the actuator the other direction.*

You can get a multimeter for $10 or less at Harbor Freight and can learn to use in about 10min or less on YouTube. If you plan to do ANYTHING electrical EVER this is a basic skill you should arm yourself with. Otherwise you can waste weeks on something that should only take 2min and even worse you could have caused thousands in damage poking around with wiring not knowing what you're doing (12v) or could injure yourself (110v).

I have a multimeter. And you are right, this is a crap thread, thanks for your contribution. Instead of spewing ignorance, next time try offering something worthwhile, for example... hey try testing the wires leading to the driver side door with a multi meter, looking to see which ones energize during the lock/unlock function.
