You don't have to like the new trucks to see the point the OP is making... You can still hear horns and wrecks just fine in the new cabs, you just don't hear as much of the wind noise, rain on the roof and road noise from the tires.

OOC if the Tacoma was car quiet how many would complain that their truck is too much of a soccer mom car and not enough truck?

Mine is loud as far as road noise. But no where near as loud as staceys brand new Kia Sorento. That thing is ridiculous. The good thing is Kia even said it is abnormal and is looking into sound deadening it. How hers turns out is whether or not I do mine.

This guy knows what's up. for like $300 bucks i got enough material to do my 4 doors (DC) and rear panel. you get CLD tiles that stick to the metal on the inside of the door, heavy vinyl and closed cell foam that go inbetween the door and the door panel. Big noise difference for me, and gave me better sound quality. I have literally 0 rattles in my truck with a $2500 stereo including a 12" ported sub. if you knock on the outside of the door, it is like you hit a piece of plywood, not a piece of metal.

Be glad you dont have a ford ranger.. my taco is silent inside compared to my old rangie.

With music at hearing loss levels you don't hear road noise anyway.

I get a kick out of all the folks on here comparing the Tacoma to the other FULL SIZE pickups on the market and then whining about the dumbest crap. For starters, you're comparing oranges and apples. The Tacoma is a midsize, mid level vehicle. Toyota does not fill it with it's best materials or technology. Now if you compared it to the old Colorado, you wouldn't be thinking this. If you want to compare anything to a Silverado, go drive a Tundra or F150. There you're on even ground. You really want to see how loud your truck is? Take a Lexus, Cadi, or Merc for a spin.

My wife has had 4 or 5 cars in the last 6 years and my truck is quieter than all of her cars have been. Including a Camry, a Rav4, a CTS, a Liberty and her present Altima. Only one that was quieter was her Intrepid from years ago. and the Camry was close. The Rav4 was the worst of the bunch. It would give you head aches it was so loud inside.

The newer ford I drive is 10x quieter than the toyota, I about shit myself its so quiet I keep speeding in it and don't even know I'm doing 75. My diesel dodge is about as loud as my stock 2nd gen was... Minus the diesel part :D as far as wind noise and road noise.
