No advice to give other than maybe break your femur so you don't have to go. F@&$ that, baby showers are for female types, not dudes. One more symptom of America becoming pussified.

There was a HUGE thread about this on a cigar forum I frequent a while back. The general consensus (which I agree with) is that this is no place for a man.

I'd personally rather have the fight with the missus than the loss of dignity by attending, but your mileage may vary.

Have some self-respect and politely refuse, or this will be the first of many co-ed baby showers for you. The significant other should be asking this shit in advance, not telling you at the last minute. If she was walking out the door to go "brunch" with her BFF's you wouldn't expect her to drop everything and change the brake pads on your truck.

My wife tried to get me to go to one of her friends baby showers once....once.

Avoid at all costs OP, you'll be the only dude there sitting in a room with a bunch of women talking and giggling about a human that hasn't been born yet.

Been married 32 years and only time I see a "baby shower" is at the end if I need to pick my bride up...;)

    Just one "Olde Mans" opinion....

And instead of doing the "guess my baby's size" I'll just have everyone go find a rock and who ever found the one closest to the baby's length would win :D

I went to one once. My buddy was having twin girls and decided they needed a co-ed shower for whatever reason. The guys ended up drinking Jim Beam and playing badminton. Take that females!

Unless you are unknowingly going to be the only dude there I.guarantee there will at least be beer. Congregate with the boys, it'll probably happen anyway.

Also avoid wearing any pastel polo shirts, lest you really want to sit among the women.

I will do anything for my daughter-in-law including going to her and my son's (my first grand daughter) baby shower. The invitation read "BEER, BABY, AND BBQ." They had a lot of beer and bbq, and two weeks later:
