Okay, so I didn't really think I was "building" my truck, but as I do more stuff to it, I'm beginning to realize that it is a "build." So I decided to start my own build thread so that I can log the mods that were done when I bought it and the things I have done since. I don't exactly have a goal in mind, I guess I'm still figuring that out. It's my DD and I don't do very much off roading other than the occasional field or log trail.

    As Purchased

    • 70k miles in October 2008
    • K&N drop in oiled filter
    • stubby antenna
    • wiring for an active sub, but no sub
    • 15x7 series 146 eagle alloys
    • 30 x 9.5 Firestone Destination AT's
    • "Cowboy Up" Rear Mudflaps

    Mods I Have Done

    • Metra Ipod Adapter
    • Wet Okole Seat Covers (thanks TW GB)
    • Factory Fog Lights
    • AMSoil 5w30 Synthetic Motor Oil
    • AMSoil 75w-90 Severe Gear in Rear Diff and Transmission
    • Super Blue DOT4 Brake Fluid
    • Rear Helper Springs-----REMOVED
    • Removed secondary air filter
    • Removed intake resonator
    • OEM Int wipers (easy and well worth it)
    • OEM Bedmat
    • URD Short Shifter (dramatically improves 5spd shifting) :burnrubber:
    • Scanguage II w/Blendmount
    • AFE Pro Dry-S Air Filter
    • DT Headers - purchased very used with rusted flanges (apparently those aren't ceramic coated). Finished cleaning the rust off and recoating with VHT clear ceramic header paint. I would advise just buying them new, or at least not rusted from winters in Michigan.
    • ARE CX Topper
    • Fat Bob's 2.75" spacer lift w/long AAL option
    • Bilstein HD shocks
    • Curt Mfg Class III receiver hitch
    • Bridgestone AT Revo 2 31x10.5x15
    • Hub Centering Rings from JustForWheels.com
      • Inside Diameter: 60.1mm (5-lug hub diameter)
      • Outside Diameter: 78.03mm (inside diameter of eagle alloy center cap)
    • Weathertech in channel slim ventvisors (thanks TW GB)
    • Weathertech digital fit floormats (thanks TW GB)
    • SP Performance Slotted Rotors (purchased from www.raceshopper.com)
    • Street Plus Pads (purchased from www.raceshopper.com)
    • Painted drums black
    • 4.10 gears w/LSD
    • speedo gear from prerunner

    To Do

    • Tint windows
    • Wire up lights on topper
    • Burco Heated Mirrors
    • Aux Fuse Block

    Wish List (someday  )

    • Beefed front skid plate
    • TC UCA's with SAW coilovers
    • URD Supercharger

Thanks TW for all of the ideas, info and just being a great forum for our trucks! :)

Installed my DT headers last week. Finally got the pics off the camera.

    After

I replaced the header gasket and the exhaust gasket during the install. Thought I had an exhaust leak, but it didn't smell like exhaust. Turned out to be the Deep Creep I used to loosen the bolts burning off. Other than that the install went well, but some of the bolts were hard to get to after installing the header. I haven't noticed much of an increase in hp or torque with the butt dyno, but at the RPM ranges I run, it's probably hard to notice.

afd23a- Just found this post of yours. Do you still feel no gains what so ever on your DT headers? What rpms are you running @?

I usually shift by 2 to 2.5 RPM's. It seems to have more noticeable gains at RPM's above 2.5. I notice that more when pulling a big hill or mountain. I don't do much towing.

Got an ARE CX topper back in September, but been too busy or it's been too rainy to take pics of it. When I got it painted they had 11 swatches for my paint code  but they did a great job matching it.

    Topper Specs:
    • solid front window
    • sliding side windows
    • Yakima rack
    • lights mounted on Yakima rails and rear

The previous owner had mounted the lights on the topper. I had to take them off when I got it painted, so they're not hooked back up yet.

Last weekend I got to do some work on the truck. Put on the lift from Fat Bob's, Bilstein HD shocks, a Curt Mfg Class III hitch and the trailer wiring.

Up next is Bridgestone AT Revo 2's, 4.10 gears with an Eaton LSD, and new speedo gear so the speedo and odometer read correctly.

Put some hub centering rings on this morning and it finally fixed the steering wheel shake. :yay:

After several times of having the tires road force balanced (with the haweka adapter) and putting on some extended thread lug nuts, the steering wheel still shook at highway speeds. I was skeptical of the hub rings fixing the problem but my drive to work today was smooth as glass.

Now if I could just get around to installing that third member......

Tried to install the new third member last weekend only to find out the hard way that it has a different pinion flange on it. I apparently knew this needed to be changed but had forgotten about it at some point. So while I had everything apart I painted my brake drums black with VHT paint.

On a side note when I drained the AMSoil 75w-90 from the rear diff, it looked and smelled just like new. There were some metal shavings on the drain plug but I consider that normal. I should've taken a sample and sent it in for analysis just to see. Not sure how many miles on that oil but it was probably a little over 20k.

On Monday I ordered a new double-drilled pinion flange from East Coast Gear Supply. It was at the door when I got home today. They included a sticker and a can koozie!:woot:

I had the same problem with the flange last week when I was swapping diffs. How much did you pay for the double drill flange?

It was $55 before shipping from east coast gear supply. They have another one that is $25 but I think that's for the pre tacoma trucks.
