In looking at the OME suspension lift kit on various retail sites, they don't specify whether the 884 or 885 that comes with that kit are the X version. These earlier comments were posted a while ago and I'm wondering whether all 885 coils are now 885X. For an example I'm posting the Toytec page below...

    Thanks.

885s or 886s with Elite aluminum bumper and winch? Where can I find literature on this?

Neither. I'm planning. Doing the lift first and trying to plan ahead

You haven't read the Elite bumper group buy fiasco and that he has been removed as a TW vendor I take it

Crap, I saw that but I guess I misunderstood the situation. So, the company is done? Well, I'll be looking elsewhere for an aluminum bumper then. So, generally speaking, would an aluminum bumper and winch be enough weight increase to warrant stepping up to 886s?

This is the first time that I've looked into ome as a lift setup so excuse my ignorance. I'm looking at eventually getting a hybrid style front bumper 65-85ish pounds(possibly a winch in the future as well). The ome setup I need is 885 with top plate spacers and 90000 shocks?

The winch is a BIG maybe. Like I'm only 10% sure I want one. And if I do get one, it's not in the near future

Im pretty sure the access cabs generally go with an 884's with no weight up front for 3inchs of lift, where the double cabs get the 885's with no weight for 3inchs of lift. So im assuming you could go with the 885's since your running an aluminum bumper, with a winch. If you were running a steel front, with a winch with steel cable I would say go with the 886's. But I think you would be safe with the 885's.

this is this build where the access cab is running 886's with arb front and winch, not sure on the cable though--> http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/339960-2-7-expedition-build.html

if your looking for a little less than 3inchs of lift. Generally the 886's are for extra weight of the arb bumper and winch which is closer to 200lbs, while providing 3inch of lift. the 885's provide close 3inchs with no extra weight.

For the both of you, im running 886's right now with a steel plate bumper. I was running the 886;s with nothing but a crush bar on the front for a while, and the ride wasn't too bad. However, with the bumper on, bigger battery in, skids, sliders im glad I went with the heavier coil.

Really all depends on the extra weight not only in terms of bumper but skids, sliders, and batteries. Hope that helps a bit

Well, after about 4 years of drooling over suspension upgrades and 2 years of researching and reading endless threads on suspension upgrades, I find myself here. I will soon be joining the OME team, as I just ordered a complete OME kit from Headstrong.

I must say I am super stoked and pleasantly surprised with the awesome costumer service from Headstrong. Good people.

Thanks to the people who contributed to this thread with all their endless knowledge.

885x coils on an access cab gave me 3.2 inches of lift.

    For the record....

Okay guys, a bit of an issue here. I'm running full OME setup including Dakars and 886 coils. When I hit even a mid-size bump, the shock compresses all the way to the bump-stops. I'm getting tired of hitting the bumpstops on every trail I go on. Is there a problem here or am I just running too much weight up front? Is it time for a different setup?

    Thanks

EDIT: I have an All-Pro 3 piece bumper, Warn 9.5 XP, and All-Pro skids.

shocks bad? coils bad? shouldn't compress that dang much every time. I was doing fine running trails at 60+ through Ocala National forest with my 885s and full bumper, skids, sliders, winch and mine wasnt compressing even that much
