Check out the thread here in the lighting section regarding these same type of led replacement lights. I did not look through it but there's useful info in there for ya.
Imho tho, I would not get them myself. Maybe if they weren't so expensive. I would be more comfortable with a hid pnp kit even tho I despise them with a passion. only because they have been out longer and I have experience with them. The led replacement kits are still fairly new tech and are somewhat of question as to how reliable they are from what little I've heard. However Cree is a good brand. But if the other 'lifetime' led kits are truly that, I would go with those in case of them failing. Good luck.

And ima throw this out there seeing as someone will eventually anyways. But have you considered doing a projector retrofit? Black Friday is around the corner and theretrofitsource.com always has awesome discounts on the kits. For not much more you can get projectors and have 10x more light. Hell, maybe 100x more light than those will ever put out. And they have awesome warranties and hassle free replacements if anything goes out. I cannot recommend it enough. You'll never regret it.

    I agree :D

LED replacement bulbs are an intermediary between stock halogens and a drop-in HID kit. As long as you realize that buying them, you'll probably like them. :)

These look just like the ones that are being sold by Lifetime LEDs for $100 more. As long as they don't crap out on you after the 2 year warranty they look like a good deal.

Does anyone make a projector retrofit that uses LEDs instead of HID bulbs?

Andrew might chime in again but if not, they were supposedly designing led ballasts and bulbs to fit in their projectors as an intermediary option like he explained above regarding the other pnp kits. They would be pnp so to speak for projectors only as a cheaper option versus the hid ballasts/bulbs.

Edit. And iirc, there wouldn't be a need for the ballasts. But a led driver or voltage regulator. I would assume that these would be supplied with amp or d2s connectors and would plug straight into the Moto control relay box/harness. Basically an option for people that want to save a little money and be happy with "instant ignition" /no warm up/constant light output and a decent yet slightly lesser output than hids. So if you were to buy a new projector kit, you'd get the projectors, led bulbs with drivers, and the relay box. Versus a kit with hid bulbs and ballasts. also for people that have projectors already, could buy the led kit and simply just swap them out. Plug and play into your current projector retrofit. However, I think the bulb design with heatsink will be very similar to these other pnp led types, so it will be a bit bulkier and stick out the back a but from the housing. As it will need the heat sink attached to it just like these others. Perhaps they are taking longer due to this fact and trying to figure out a new approach for a different design. I hope Andrew can fill us in on this. I'm curious.

    Please elaborate.
I have a HID kit in stock housing- and not real impressed so its time to change.
    Stock / Silverstars are 900 / 1500 lumens.
The LED's are rated at 3200. Not sure what HID's put out.
Considering either some fleabay / Amazon projectors with HID's or the LED in stock housing. Sorry, not interested in the retrofit route.
This is for hiway / street driving. I have a 30" Rigid for off road.

If you don't want to spent a whole bunch of money but still want quality headlights, why not blackout the stock headlights and go with these LED bulbs.

In my opinion, HIDs are going to be old news very soon. These are essentially the same technology as fluorescent tubes which have been around for more than 50 years. There are several drawbacks to them such as warm-up time, problems with the ballasts and their components degrading because of the high voltages they use. Oh yeah, the bulbs burn out too.

I'm not saying the current LED technology is perfect either, but LED lighting is the future of all lighting and the technology behind them is constantly improving.

Take a look around at newer office buildings and parking lots and you will notice that the old style fluorescent tube and HID parking lot lights are being replaced by LED lights. Why you might ask? Because it is a better technology.

thats what I've heard, thats why i wish a place would sell retrofit quality projectors...

my hid kit was on my truck for about 3 years and then it crapped out about 2 months ago... sucks because i put stock halogens in and the out put is so bad compared to the hids... i want to get leds because i know leds are notorious for how long they last, but don't know which kit to get, because the technology is so new for headlights... but if i got a kit id want projectors, looks so much better with projectors

But a requirement would be high beams in the kit, would that mean the projectors would have to be motorized to aim them up or down?

Well, yeah the bi-xenon kits have a solenoid that makes it low/high beam on the retro projectors. some are only low beam. But the projector itself does not move. Some newer vehicles and high end cars have motorized projectors. But I have yet to see someone make some retro ones like that. that would be a major project though. And honestly I don't think it's really possible. But the aftermarket eBay type projector housings are only low beam and I believe they use regular halogen reflectors for high beam.
If you're considering a 'real' projector retrofit, research the bixenon kits. Probly the mini H1. It's $270 right now. Black Friday it'll probly come down quite a bit. So again, I can't stress enough that for not much more, you'll have an awesome setup.
Another thing to note is, do you have or plan on having any led light bars? And how often would you get to use them? I use mine every night so they act as my high beam. Projectors are still nice to have regardless. But if I was on a budget and only wanted a better high beam, led bar would be a better investment. But again that's only if you can use it all the time.
But do your research. I've heard the new 6.0's can be tricky to install in the 2nd gen housings. Not sure. I have 5.0's currently and have new 6.0's for my new retro, but it's for my 1st gen.
