I agree. I can tow my trailer all weekend long, fill the tank, and get 15-17 MPG. The next tank (unloaded) I can get 19-20 MPG in town. Then I go back to my normal 18 MPG. Weird...

Also, taco I get about 18.6 with my lead foot... which amazes me. I haven't checked it in months though cause I just don't really care anymore lol.

My 08 v6 moredoor automatic has been getting 20 MPG local and 19 MPG on the highway. It has 7,500 miles on the odometer, with no alterations.

I have only owned it since early spring, but have made trips to FL, TN, and TX, so I have a good handle on its MPG at speeds of the high side of legal.

To my surprise, my fill-up yesterday, all local driving, was 18.5 MPG.

I know for sure that the 15% alcohol blend is not the best buy for this truck.

Does the Tacoma "learn" your diving habits?

Has my high speed trips reset something that would affect my local MPG?

x2, its like the ECU is leaning it out for the extra effort in towing and the it stays awhile till it learns its not towing anymore.

New vehicle for me and have been tracking mileage. Just back from a 500 mile trip and when traveling at 70 MPH plus, my 2006 V6 double cab PreRunner got 21 MPG... back into a rural area and find that traveling at 55 most all the time I am getting 24.

My MPG went down to 15 since my last post. I think I have found the solution --- its a locking gas cap!

Last fill up, around town driving, was 19.5

I got 19.2 in mixed driving on the first tank. My driving style tends to be nice to fuel mileage; I get 17 in my wife's 5.3L Chevy, she gets under 16.

I noticed that 2 people said that they get over 25 mpg with a v6. Is that even possible? Maybe it is.:notsure:

I got 24 mpg with the v6 on a road trip but have been averaging 20 or 21 lately, added weight, city driving etc...

I have a 06 Tacoma 4.0lV6,access cab,4x4,TRD,SR5,5 speed Automatic.I typically get around 19 to 20.Unless I'm hauling my trailer and 4-wheeler then it drops more around 15 16 I guess.I have never actually calculated hauling milage so it's hard to say.
