I ordered it there brand new in 2005 from a Military program Toyota has and had it shipped over. I have considered a TH400 or a heavier duty manual. Then I think well if I'm going to go to all that trouble, I should do a real motor and T-case too. Then the hamster gets on the wheel and says "lets gut all the wiring and start all over and do it right." Then I realize I picked the wrong platform to start with. Last Toyota build for sure. It would be easier to start all over with a tube chassis than unfuck this pile. Long story short, I'll keep patching it together until I total it or get tired of it.

that truck hasn't raced in a looooooong time to my knowledge. They rolled it really bad at Rage at the River in 2011 and it was getting rebuilt as far as I knew but haven't seen it race in awhile. TSA races a Camburg 7200 truck now.

I might have a picture of it rolled in my phone

haha just saw that when i checked IG just now.

I would have done a T400 or 4L80 swap on mine already if I could figure out how to run the stock T-Case with it and not have to run an atlas. Guaranteed I will lose a trans within the year, one step closer to that LS3 swap is how I see it haha

The total chaos race truck has had a turbo 400 in it for years now using the LCE adaptor plate.

I think the thing to do is swap your wiring harness and computer with one out of a manual V6 Tacoma and then mount up a semi built 4L80E with a manual valve body using the LCE adaptor plate.

Interesting regarding the tranny swap convo. One of these days I'd be interested in getting access to a dyno to see what HP we're actually putting down in the 3.4 with the auto tranny.

If I had to do it all over again knowing that the truck was going to go full race some day I would have started with a 4x4 with a manual instead of the Prerunner with the auto tranny.

I might not drive the truck hard enough but after 2 years of two races, some testing, and play time I feel like we've beaten on the truck pretty hard and so far we've had no issues with the stock tranny (knock on wood). And that said, the truck probably had around 115k on it when we started the race build.

The other tranny options are intruiging but for me so far we've had fairly good luck with the 3.4 auto and they are super cheap and a dime a dozen so my intent would be to stick with this set up unless something starts to drastically change.

Only real reason I think I'd swap trannies at this point is if it involved a motor swap. But still, would be intersted to see the real dyno numbers of a 3.4 with a stock auto, stock manual, and maybe a swapped TH400 or comparable non Yota tranny.

One that attaches the UCA to the frame or UCA to spindle?

I still think an X-runner trans boogies the best with the 4.0. When Vance had that set-up it was quick!

Is the e-locker in any way also a limited slip differential? I've never seen it apart so I'm unfamiliar with it. I am quite familiar with differentials on Chevy's and Ford's but haven't taken a Toyota apart yet. Reason why I ask, my truck drives like it has a LSD in the desert but not on the road and to further my confusion the truck is at the shop because a rat decided to feast on the wiring harness and the insurance estimate says it has the LSD option installed? As far as I know, it has an e-locker and not a LSD. Oh and my truck is a 2011 4x4 TRD Off Road.

Well 2009+ has the Electronic LSD where it uses the ABS system to pulse the brake on the tire that loses traction transferring power to the other tire; so maybe that is what you are experiencing offroad:notsure:

But as far as the mechanical system is concerned the E-locker diff is open when the locker is not engaged.

Have a few questions about first gen tundras
4.7 V8: pretty reliable motor right? anything to look out for other than water pump and timing belt?
Giant Daily Driver Link Kit: anything to look out for on one of these? Ive heard that the small shocks they use to control pinion change are the weak point.. are they that bad and is there a way around them?
First gen tundra steering: What should i look out for as far as strengthening the rack? The truck I'm looking at has "Camburg Engineering Heim Steering Rack Conversion" and "Custom Tie Rod w/ Heims (Both Ends)". Are these racks themselves susceptible to failure, especially with heimed ends? Or is it much more reliable with the heim conversion?
TC Tundra LT Kit: is this kit compatible with solo spindles and the lower uniball adapter? The kit is currently bj lower, and I would prefer uniballs, without replacing the entire kit.

Thanks for the input guys, looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say
