Not hard at all, we could do it in a afternoon.

are you a pre runner? ill assume so since you are in texas. if not do the gears match?

if it is the entire axle, like it just straight from a truck not hard at all. unbolt driveshaft from flange, unbolt the u bolts from the axle reinstall. with mine i had to re gear the axle, clean the housing, swap break lines...i had a lot of crap to do.

as far as the harness goes...you still need the harness. I find it hard to believe your truck is prewired with the full harness all the way to the back to plug in. so at minimum you need the second, shorter part of the harness down into the locker. at most you basically need to build an entire wiring harness front to back with the connectors if you dont have them of course.

 

Yes, he's a prerunner, but he's in Ms, not TX.

Don't know where you got that assumption. I see less 4x4's in Missouri than I ever did back home

lets take a poll and see where most of the pre runners lie. it will be in the southern states and california. guaranteed. I also bet you the percentage of 2wds is way less than 4wd in those same states

 

I don't know about that, I've seen a lot more 4x4 trucks out here than I ever did in Ca, and it's close to the same amount that I saw in Va.

When I checked online before my last visit most Tacomas at dealerships were 2wd. Maybe it was just the timing tho or location

 

It's complete axle assembly and just because I have prerunner means nothing I do miss my 1st gen 4wd I didn't need to sell it but I did and I regret it everyday

 

What did texas do to you? East/central Tx is nice.
