My 2015's Entune connectivity to bluetooth worked perfectly when purchased. I had an issue pop up and I'm not sure what caused it and I can't seem to reset it. There are several things that may have been the culprit and I hope someone can shed some light on my issue.

I first noticed when I tried to call my wife using the hands free. She answered and I started talking but she could not hear me. I noticed her phone number was frozen in the "Dialing" mode but was not actually calling.

I deleted my phone from the Entune system, turned off bluetooth on my iPhone 6 and went through the bluetooth set-up procedure again. The phone recognized the Tacoma and said it was connected but the Entune system did not recognize my phone.

I took it to the dealer and just got a call from the tech that there are a couple white pages on it and that it is a known issue with the iPhone and Android. He also requested I bring my iPhone down for them to use for about 3 hours at which time, I pretty much told him to KMA! No body get's my phone unlocked for a second!

So, have any of you had this issue?

Sounds like you may not be able to resolve this. How about you hold the phone while they work and try to connect? Would that be comfortable for you?

so what you are saying is you are refusing them to use the phone that causes the issue to see if they can fix it?

I will tell you bluetooth is handled so many different ways and 95% of the time bt issues are caused on the phone side. Get your phone to the latest software version and do a full factory reset.... id be willing to bet BT works fine after that.

My 2013 has had zero issues with BT.

Yep... sounds pretty reasonable to me!

I take it, by the positive response, I must be treading on thin ice with an overly requested issue. I did search and did not find one just like mine. But maybe I should have looked harder.

I have no problem with them using my phone with me there. But I'm not leaving my phone, password and access to accounts, email, photos and such with anyone for 3 hours or so. I don't mind sitting with them while working with it. I have talked to another dealer who told me to NOT leave my phone with them. I will drive the extra miles to the other dealer.

My phone is up-to-date and always is within a day of new releases.

The phone sees the truck but the truck does not see the phone. That doesn't sound like a phone issue to me. Guess it might be but we'll see tomorrow.

Take you iPhone to your wireless provider and let them try it.

iPhone 6 is very new and is most likely the culprit.

My iPhone 6 hasn't had any issues connecting to my 2014 Entune headunit. All I had to do after upgrading from the 5 is tell the truck to pair with the phone. If you've already done a reset on the headunit, and deleted the Tacoma from the phone's BT devices list and re-paired, then next I'd back up the iPhone (bc it's easy) and do a Restore on it. Try connecting with a blank iPhone image, if that works, restore from backup and see if it still works. The problem is, if you have apps installed, any one of them could be fidgeting with your BT when it runs, even if it doesn't actively need BT. It's up to the developer and what they did in their code.

jtweezy, by "reset the headunit", do you mean to delete my phone from the bluetooth list on the Entune? (already tried that) Or is there a reset for the headunit that takes it back to factory settings? I think I'll try connecting my wife's iPhone 5s tonight first, just to see if it's the 6 causing the problem. Her's has less apps than mine and there should not be any conflict. If her's does not connect, I will know there is an issue with the Entune system. Thanks guys for your suggestions. If I don't get this figured out tonight, I'll try the other sources mentioned.

there is a known compatibility issue with the new iphone and toyota's entune system when using the Bluetooth. have you tried connecting directly with the USB?

    Hi there,

I'm an IT guy by trade so I'm going to offer you some quick tips. (I also have a '15 tacoma)

It's probably not the truck (here me out).

You have the latest version of iOS, which entune might not be up to date with quite yet. But there is an easy way to eliminate that YOUR phone is the problem.

Have your wife/friend/kid etc. try to connect to your truck via bluetooth with THEIR phone. Make calls, play music, etc. and see how it works.

If it works totally fine with someone else's device, you now have narrowed the problem down and can take steps to resolve it:

    1. Do a factory reset on your phone (Back up all your pics / vids/ etc.) and do a complete restore, don't have it save any apps. Re-install everything fresh on the new restore.

    2. If this doesn't work, I would call entune customer service. It's free, and you can ask them if they have any known issues with iOS 8 devices.

    3. If entune says that iOS 8 is totally fine, head over to the apple store, and ask them to take a look at the blutooth functionality of your phone. Let them know that everyone elses phone works on your trucks system except yours.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask me any questions if you need some help.

iPhone 6 uses the same Bluetooth profile and connectivity as any other phone does.

It looks like OP is having the same issues that I did with my 2012 about a year into ownership. I posted a fix for it but everyone quickly dismissed it and the thread disappeared shortly thereafter.

She's alive again. After reading all your post again, figured it had to be the phone and not the headunit. I turned off Bluetooth on the phone, made sure the headunit was cleared of my phone, then rebooted my phone again. This time it worked. Not sure what was different this time but I'll take that as a win. Thanks for all of your feedback.
