I think he already has it, and just wants to know if it would work on a different truck.

I'm not sure how Unichip's work so I can't help, Alan, but if you decide to sell it Craigslist is probably your best bet. Another member on TW has tried to sell his Unichip and I think it's been on there for like 2 months and no one has picked it up.

The thing that sucked about UniChip was that they were pretty much individually tuned to each truck. The tuning files were specific to each aftermarket intake, exhaust, etc. It was a bitch trying to sell them to the wholesale shop, to then in-turn, get them sold to the retail customer. Very hard to find a shop that dealt with them, and wanted to put the effort into the product. At the time though, it was about the only thing you could get for the foreign makes. Diablo, BullyDog, Edge, Hypertech, Superchip, and so on laughed at you when you said Toyota or Nissan.

Seeing as mileage is one of the key points of buying a chip (they advertise performance and mpg tuning for different needs, and though I understand they usually don't work) I hardly see how "Prius" is an appropriate answer to my question.

Secondly, if they improve performance... why does no one have them in their Tacoma?

What is the difference between a chip and a piggy back? And like I said, I know most of them don't work. But my question is that if this one does work, how come no one has it?

As for the Prius, you can't really pick up a monthly car, insurance, and maintenance note and call it saving money. Unless you sell your Tacoma, and considering most people bought the Tacoma for specific reasons, selling it is not a very attractive option.

Okay, thanks for the explanation. Yeah it seems like something I wouldn't want to deal with. Maybe if I saw a Dyno that made such a performance increase that it was a no brainer, but I doubt that's the case.

It's a close-minded response. Buying a truck for fuel savings/complaining about MPG =/= Doing what you can to make it a better machine.

    The Unichip does work.
Installed on 2015 Taco TRD Sport SB 4x4 with TRD Supercharger, TRD Cat Back and Volant CAI, URD 2.85 Pulley for TRD Supercharger and Michelin Premier LTX P265/65/17H tires.
Pushing out about 300 RWHP now with about 365 RW Torque. That equates to about 360 CHP.
Average about 15.25 MPG in the city. Highway is about 17.5 MPG.

    TRD Supercharger = Produces 304 hp @ 5,400 rpm and 334 lb.-ft. torque @ 3,600 rpm (from 239 hp @ 5200 rpm; 278 lb.-ft. @ 3700 rpm.

Going to do another DYNO run in October when the Texas heat subsides. Adjusted the maps on the Unichip based on feedback from Unichip Tech.

And as Chopper678 stated, tweaks to engine perfomance equates to lower MPG. So if you want better MPG do not tweak the engine.
