Does anyone know the collapsed and extended measurements for the all pro expo leafs for 2nd gen? How does one measure this himself correctly? I am running ome nitro chargers in the rear and would like to know what shocks out there are perfect for this application so the shocks are not the limiting factor. I did search but the info seems to be scattered and incomplete. Would like to upgrade shocks, just want to find the right ones. No high speed stuff, just trails and crawling. Thanks for any aand all info.

Down travel is easy.......lift one side of truck and remove shock, measure shock mount to shock mount (I've heard it being 27" for the expos).
For compression.....I just stuff it on a loading dock by my house and measure same two points.

I'm running AP standards so my numbers are different but I run 16.5" comp (w/superbumps) and 25.5" ext. I used to run the ext length 5100's and they extend to 27"+ which is a great match for flex but SUCK for speed since the valving is light.

    Here: http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-1...ft-rcd-bilstein-5100-shocks-05-2014-pair.html

Just watch for the compressed length or you'll blow them on the trail.

    RCD BE5-B110-T5:
    Extended Length: 27.28"
    Collapsed Length: 16.34"

Thanks Sublime. I was hoping for a fox, icon, king, saw or walker evans shock that would fit. I will try to do my own measurements.

Just fyi my AP Fox's extend to 25.5" exactly what the stardars do. I think DSM can do ext length Icons but they get expensive.

Go SAW shocks. I cannot comment about what extended and collapsed lengths will be but they use top notch internals and externals in their stuff for typically cheaper then Fox King and definitely Icon.

Cool, I actually have been eyeballing saw's, maybe I will have to give them a call once I get my measurements.

Good luck man......was just reading about your trimming for 35's. I can't wait to get mine and chop the fenders. How are you liking them and have you regarded yet? Debating on the 4.88 as it'll be more or less my dedicated trail rig.

Love the 35s, feels like a huge difference. Still need to beat the firewall back more to clear them at full stuff, but they get through stuff a lot easier than the 33s. I regeared to 4.56's. I did that because I drive on the highway a lot and I didn't want to run high rpms. I think if I would do it over though I would have gone 4.88s. If I wasnt so heavy with all the armor and cap and stuff, I think 4.56 would be good. With all the extra weight I think 4.88 would be better. Dont get me wrong the 4.56 works, I just think the extra torque would be better.

If your's is a dedicated trail rig I would definitely go 4.88

I'm pretty sure you'll need to fab a custom shock mount if you want to run an extended length shock that'll give you more droop. No shock that bolts into the stock mount location can extend any longer - unless you get a shock that has too long a collapsed length and then you're at risk of blowing the shock unless you limit compression by extending your bumpstops.

Ask this question on the mid-travel BS thread.

I don't know which extended shock you are talking about, or even what travel numbers you are talking about. If you get or run a 10" or 11" travel shock, sure you might have to extend the bump stop out some based upon the overall height of the lift from the AAL, but if you do your math correct you will have a great operating rear.

I run 10" of travel on the rear end, I have a total of 6" of available uptravel until full bottom out on the shocks built in rubber stop at the end of the shaft. I also have my external frame mounted bump stop spaced out additional to it's 4" of overall height and I have not once bottomed out on those rubber built in stops except maybe once or twice at Pismo over some large bumps at a very fast speed. It's doable. You just have to have your math dead on for it to be effective.

If you are interested I have a set of fox shocks that were custom made to be used with an all-pro leaf pack on a 2nd gen Tacoma. PM me if you're interested.

Sounds about right. With a lot of detailed calculation, and by extending your stock bumpstops, you achieved about one inch of extra travel out of the stock shock mounts. 10" extended vs. 9" stock length.

I believe the stock shocks provide something like 8.some change worth of travel not actually 9.
