It sounds like an epic freaking adventure though! Good luck! Do you have a SPOT or something we can follow along with?

    Thanks man, I'm in Anchorage.

SPOT? I'll definitely be taking a lot of pictures. I shall create a blog for this adventure! I'm going to meet up with a friend that lives in Calgary, Canada to party like a canadian :D.

SPOT is a sattelite personal locator beacon can send SOS/SAR, non-emergency help, and other requests. There's a tracking function as well. There's an annual fee which kinda sucks but shrug I go off into the bush on my own a lot so I always carry it.

    http://findmespot.com

Tracking updates your location every 10-20 minutes when it's running. The devices need a clear shot of the sky though to get signals out.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
You do relise that the only thing in on that fiat that is kinda from a fiat is the fiberglass body. Everything else is a custom, body, suspension and just about every part of it.

Also that fiat is a sand rail, not a rock crawler.

Sorry not sand rail. It's a sand buggy.

^^ That is fucked. Even stepping on that thing would be a terrible/disgusting feeling!

Ohh, nice! I don't think I'll need it for the road trip as long as I stay on the main highways. Should be able to hitch a ride from a semi if something were to happen to my truck. How much is the yearly service? I am definitely going to get one for when I travel to Asia or South America!

It's like $150/yr for tracking and the SOS feature. Not expensive, but not exactly cheap. I have a 2nd generation device and even with tracking a set of Lithium AAA's last easily two weeks and sometimes a bit more.

I decided on this solution instead of a non-yearly service fee Personal Locator Beacon so I can send a message to friends (sends a message to a pre-set list of emails and text messages to phones) for help if i have say a mechanical breakdown on my motorcycle but I don't need a full SOS/Search and Rescue response. That way I can just wait for friends to show up to help with recovery.

In the three years I've had it I've never needed it and have been in some tight spots. But it's there as an absolute last resort.

A small handful of select mods.
The amount of money dumped into that one could fund you a full fledged Toyota 4x4 that is very well built up.

Mine had the wrong kind too. I changed the plugs and wires, got 25 on the tank after the change... not too shabby.

Recently under certain conditions my driveline chudders/shudders when taking off at low speeds usually from a stop but can happen at other times as well. I can't reproduce it reliably enough to take it into the dealership and wanted to get some ideas first.

My truck has 18,000 miles on it with the stock non-trd Dunlop tires at 32psi.

It gets worse if I accelerate harder and is gets better if I ease off the gas after it starts happening. It's very pronounced when it happens and feels like the third member is slipping or something. Perhaps the best way I can think to describe it is it feels like the tires are slipping and then getting traction in pulses at a moderate frequency except the tires aren't loosing traction and freely spinning from what I can tell. It seems more likely to happen when I'm starting off from a stop going up incline.

After I get going a bit it stops. It doesn't feel like the clutch is slipping as engine RPM's aren't spiking or anything. I have no issues at speed or once I'm going faster then 20mph. It seems to happen more often when the truck is cold but I've had it happen after I've been driving for awhile.

I don't think I'm driving the truck any different then I have been the last 10 months.

Is this axle warp maybe? This is the first pickup I've owned in a long time.
