I like the access cab, If I had wanted an suv without the back I would have bought the DC.
That little bed on the DC is sorta cute.
What can you put back there besides your shoes?;)

It was either an access cab with a long bed, or the double cab short bed....either one would fit in my garage.....

I didn't even think about anything else except what the reality was, of fitting the truck into the small garage I have out here in the country. I see AC's as much as I see DC's...both very popular, both fill the needs as each of us have as individuals or heads of households.

The back seats in the access cab are worthless. Only good for a dog. I couldn't imagine trying to put a person back there. That's why you see more double cabs on the road.

We (AC owners) are the oppressed, underprivileged, and unsuccessful dregs of society. :der:

    That is another option. :notsure:

That makes no sense. Why would someone who prefers a regular cab jump over the AC and go to the DC?

As far as I am concerned the looks depreciate by the number of doors. The best looking Tacoma is a slightly lifted with bigger tires regular cab 4wd. It's also the least useful. Next is the Access Cab, then the double cab. They start to look too much like Ridgelines when you have a double cab. All of them however are the best looking trucks on the road. I had to have an AC to have someplace to put the dog, or my long guns.

You saved about $1440 going with the Utility package with no seats.

Life is full of regrets. Upon hearing that the regular cabs were being discontinued after 2014, I purchased one. Then, Toyota came out with the 2015 Utility Access cab model.

That Utility model is much more practical than a regular cab, with extended interior space and only 18" longer in total length for only about $1000 more.

If I had known that Toyota was going to offer the Utility model for 2015, I would have waited for it.

from what i saw my ac with no seats is only offered with the base model so i could not get the trd package. I had the trd on my 03 but i figured that if im going to lift it and change the rims why should i get the trd. I asked the dealer how much the trd bead locks were and he said 2000 i googled them and can get a set of four for 1000 shipped. My Ac 4x4 base model sits just as high as my buddies tss 4x4.

I love my Access cab, I had to wait for Toyota to make mine. The dealer tried to talk me into a Doublecab

That's what many of us do on TW. Why pay for an over priced package when you can do it yourself for much less.

I love the way my access cab looks, I got the 2014 SR package with the stock ack wheels in magnetic grey tinted windows blacked out emblems, black nerf bars and black bull bar. I also have a car seat in the back and take my 4 year old to daycare everyday and he loves being able to see out the front with the front seat folded down flat. I can take both kids and wife with me but that's what the mini-van is for.

I got my 2015 with 0 miles for 26k otd but that was with the lifetime power train warranty. So the price you paid is accurate from a purchasers perspective.

That is exactly what i told the salesman. When explaining the package he told me it comes with the sticker!!. Its an overpriced package if you ever plan on upgrading it. If you don't plan on it i think some of the packages like the tx pro look great and i would never change it.

What's funny about this all is that when I came to the US from South Africa in 1997 there were no small double cabs on the market, while we had them for years elsewhere in the world. I asked dealers about it and they all said "there is no market for a small double cab - people buy full size crew cabs if they want to transport workers/people".
Nissan started the double cabs (1999/2000±?) and Toyota followed in 2001 and now it is the most popular style. - shows you that the research and marketing departments don't always get it right the first time.
Same thing will happen with diesel, but that's another story for another thread....

Some of us don't need the rear seats; but we really need the bed.

And I wish the bed was 7', I personally could use it more; being the tailgate is so weak. I had mine strengthened, before it was bent and ruined.

But the lower numbers of access cabs, does not make them rare.

Try the chevy colorado 2015 diesel option.
EDIT: Just looked and it doesn't seem like an option for 2015 on their web page but thats what chevy has been saying and they have the prototypes out. So maybe in the next year or two. And the base 2015 4x4 colorado starts at 27,700

^This... is the only reason I'll give up my access cab. Even then, I won't give it up, I'll just buy a DCSB as a 3rd (or maybe 4th at that point if the Mrs lets me get a track car) vehicle and build it up to the same level I want to build the AC to before kids arrive.
