    Living in SoCal, shopping for a new Tacoma -

    Double Cab (short-bed)
    V6
    SR5 pkg.

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    ^^^ +1 on that, it makes a huge difference, your cant fit anything in the short bed!

    Welcome from Houston.

    Long beds are, well, long. They won't fit on a lot of trails but if you don't wheel much I would go for it.

    I gave up the garage for a long bed as well. That took a lot of thought living in Pittsburgh, but the long bed was worth it.

    All I carry is tools mostly. The guys with trucks and racks get the pipe and fittings and all. I wheel a lot, and the shot bed is fine for me. Yeah it's small, but that's what makes it work. No way could I carry 5-600 lbs of tools in a daily driver that wheels this well. A Jeep would shit the bed with all my stuff in there. My 2012 with 70 K miles on it with umpteen off roading adventures still runs pretty good.
