Any 2nd gen pics with a rear view and the tailgate in the closed position, also will this product work with a bakflip g2 hard folding tonneau? Thanks

I forgot what type of material is being used but most aluminums are non ferrous (not magnetic) metals so a magnet probably would not work on the aluminum version unless you were going below the lip.

Edit; just went back to OP and saw it's 5052 so it is non ferrous

For those who would prefer to have all matching fasteners to secure the plate, get 7 of this part number from a dealer: 90166-60003. These replace the larger head ones with the shoulder that secured the plastic top rail. $0.69 each. Just puts that finishing touch on the deal.

Do these mount flush and eliminate the raised heads from the original larger fasteners?

I installed my tailgate reinforcement yesterday. I added some strips of foam weatherstrip tape between the tailgate and reinforcement to limit metal on metal contact and reduce any possible rattles. Fitment was still overall very good. I had to trim maybe 1/8" of material from the rubber bump stops the tailgate closes against to allow for clearance.

Yep. Identical to the other 8 you re-used. All matching and flush.

Just got mine installed this afternoon. Figured I'd add my 2 cents to the thread.

I used a spray on bed-liner product on just the cap area to give it a black protective coating. About 6 coats worth. You can also see in the pic that I covered the tailgate edge underneath the cap area with a clear protective layer that I had in the garage. I let it stick out about 1/4" to protect the paint from the sharp edge of the cap if they come in contact. Right now there is just enough room in the very middle to fit a single sheet of paper between the tailgate and lip edge.

I wanted to re-install the plastic liner on the tailgate so instead of grinding down the rubber bumpers a little to allow for the extra thickness, I used a 3/4" spade bit to drill holes in the black liner so the bumper touches the inner aluminum plate instead. Worked great and fits perfectly.

I bought the re-enforcement plate because I plan to haul a couple dual sport bikes in the bed and I didn't want to taco the tailgate. Now she's stiff as can be and has a much heavier feel to it. Highly recommended.

I do plan to buy a few of the screws with smaller heads to replace the top row.

Aluminum. They salt heavily here in MN during the winter. I didn't want to risk rusting.

Yep, that's why I specifically asked about the steel model.

I expected the dimensions to be the same between the steel model and the aluminum model, but didn't want to assume.

Good idea drilling a hole in the liner.

Did you have Relentless powdercoat the aluminum plate? Did you add the bedliner spray on top of the powder or on the bare aluminum?

    Thanks!
