What's better, an unlit 4WD knob that can be used by feel, or a lit 4WD knob that's next to the headlight knob and has the same size and shape?

 

Just put it on auto and forget it.

Should have kept the Tacoma with a manual transfer case and manual front hubs. Probably would have been less complaining about the lack of ADD than there is about having it and a user-unfriendly unlit twist knob.

But I think even the Gen1 was moving to ADD, with the 3.4l and auto trans IIRC you had no choice of manual hubs.

I believe you could also dinghy tow the Gen1 Tacoma with manual trans and manual transfer case and front hubs, put the trans and transfer case in neutral, unlocked front hubs.

I can't speak for Texas Ranchers, but when I lived in Austin Texas in 2004, was driving an '05 Ram 3/4 Cummins, there were plenary of brisk winter mornings that had the windshield, side glass and mirrors fogged up. Glad my Ram had heated mirrors, although the defrost on that thing sucked.

 

No one complained about lights when trucks had actual shift levers for 4x4. Y'all have some major first world problems.
