I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I'm pretty sure it's a NEMA 6-50 for most welders. On a 40 amp breaker and 6 gauge wire should cover it but your electrician should know what fits your code.

Since I've got a Square D panel, it's relatively simple to add a breaker. Ran individual 6AWG wire through the conduit to my outlet, made the penetration into the box on the underside, in between the studs.

See if your electrician might be able to sell you some 8/3, or 6/3 QO cord at cost. It's great for an extension cord for your welder/plasma/etc..

I scored the wire for mine at the local scrapyard for $25 IIRC.

    It's not a tricky job.

Looking at this lincoln welder, anyone has had any experience with it? Is it good? My plans for welding are: tube bumper, in bed rack, engine cage and maybe a cab cage if I get good at it.

NOPE! your going to need bigger then that. 180amp min for welding bumpers. I would step it up to the Millermatic 211 or 212 those should be good for what your trying to do.

1 amp per .001" thickness is the general rule of thumb I learned.

If you just bought that welder posted above you will be disappointed. You can not even weld 1/8th properly with a 88amp welder.

Base metal. A tube bumper is .120" thick at least, so 120 amps is needed for proper penetration.

yeah, that one's going to be a major disappointment for truck fab. Only thing that thing is good for is sheetmetal/body work. Nothing thicker.
As jerry said, 180-210 amps is where you should be looking
