Exactly. They look great, drive well, this one had AWD and leather which she wanted but it's in the shop right now for a 4th left rear shock in 20k miles! It's warrantied but damn. That, wheel bearings, motor mounts, ugh.... I'm almost over it

Mazdas are junk. I drove a co workers 06 Mazda 6 and doesn't measure up to similar Toyota's or Honda's in ANY way in terms of fit and finish and quality. Both front seats already worn out at 85k with metal and springs sticking out. Drove like crap, buttons falling off, everything was loose.

The lastest generation CR-V is made in USA, Canada, Mexico, and Japan. Why? Who knows. If I were in the market I would prefer a Japan, Canada, or US made over Mexican.

Single source per market is the norm other than a handful of vehicles. Especially for a lower demand item like Tacoma's and even the CRV. It's cheaper usually to ship all the parts and tooling to one place then rail ship all your cars from that point rather than distribute your manufacturing all over the country. Plus then in slow months/years you can activate and shut down lines quicker without shutting down the whole plant, which saves costs.

Honda walks to the beat of a different drum sometimes...

The only industry I know where it pays to distribute your manufacturing is Agriculture where you have a time sensitive product and refrigeration needs.

That 6 is just a ford fusion with different front and rear fascias and badging so what would you expect? Any of those you mentioned do suck that share platforms with "American" cars or are being made here. For that matter anything coming out of Japan nowadays have more of the same issues as ones built here. Here, try this blanket statement out......Anything built anywhere nowadays is a POS.

Well you're just a pile of roses aren't yeah :p. Platforms are just that, things to build cars off of. Ford and Mazda have divested themselves of each other for the most part, the new Ford Fusion has very little to do with the new Mazda 6. Back in 2006 when that 6 was made it was a different story, but that's no excuse for the current model sucking balls when it comes to shakes, rattles, and rolls. A knob rattling on one car has very little to do with what architecture was used to build it. Superior quality comes from strict quality control, which is a function of how tight a company wants to oversee and restrict what goes out the door. Companies that spend more time on testing and removing problems before cars leave the factory will hold up better than cars that start with problems. Also low volume production favors higher build quality since each car tends to see more time in quality assurance.

This is why Lexus, Porche, Mercedes, etc tend to hold up better over time vs Toyota, VW, and Smart.

Not everything is a POS, unless you're a glass half empty sorta guy. If you are I can't help you with that lol.

It was the only explanation I could come up with for why the 6 is so small height wise compared to other cars in the class. I could be wrong but we ended up buying a Sonata because I couldn't sit comfortably in the 3 or 6. All the salesman could say was "they only make the Japanese version now and it's built for someone a bit smaller"...

Make that one and counting. I have a San Antonio built Taco, 2013, with distinct wind noise on the drivers side. Noticeable but not a deal breaker. But US trucks have it too.

My Tacoma was proudly built in AMERICA by illegal immigrants in Fremont, California. Illegal mexicans working in California are harder working and more precise than illegal mexicans working in Texas. Something to do with the marijuana laws or something.

Even on a Texas-built truck, the bed, leaf springs, stereo and possibly the frame are made in Mexico.

This type of discussion happens in every industry and hobby when the parent country and manufacturing country and main consumer country do not align.

That being said as a retailer of Made In the USA Toro products (except for the cheap shit that Home Depot demanded) every once in a while the Made In Mexico side surfaces.

I'm sure there are more than a few families in Mexico missing a few relatives since the truck originating in Mexico did not get hijacked an emptied before it made it to it's legit destination in MN (production plant / WI (parts distribution)

Oh, I guess I didn't finish my sentence then..................Anything from anywhere nowadays is a POS that costs less than 60k. And yeah, I know, Lexus & Mercedes make models less than 60k...like the Lexus that is just a rebadged camry or the entry level mercedes with their $800 windshield wiper fails and AC costing 2k to fix. Yep, the quality control is rampant and the glass is half full until it is upside down, which is where you end up after buying most vehicles.

That's a circular argument. Based on your logic I assume you lease your vehicles on 1 year terms because they're all massively fucked up the moment they leave the factory. That or you're one of those guys that buys everything 5 years old because "they've worked all the kinks out", when you really know your used vehicle could of been shit kicked or the engine could be full of sludge because the previous owner didn't believe in oil changes.

I've only had one lemon out of the 6 new vehicles I owned. That one lemon the dealership took back happily on trade and made me a fair deal on a new vehicle that was just fine.

I buy new and keep for 30 yrs. The wife is the one who gets new stuff that doesn't get modded or messed with. I lease nothing, not even a place to hunt deer.
