Headlight resto on the cheap

Okay I have searched and couldn't find a similar thread in here. I saw this over on TTORA and thought that i would do it myself and do a write up on it and post in here. Okay so here is all you need
1. 1500 and 2000 grit wet/dry sand paper.
2. a bucket with lots of water
3. Plastix plastic cleaner or i also tried turtle wax also and it works just the same.
4. something to dry/clean it with

Total cost of supplies- $8.56 at autozone



You first start with the 1500 grit ( use LOTS of water) and gently sand the headlight. Then wipe off the headlight and clean it with some soapy water. Then move to the 2000 grit and again use LOTS of water. Heres what it looks like when you finish sanding. ( you want to sand VERY gently, just enough to take the shiny finish off)



^^looks very dull after sanding.

Now for the good stuff. Apply the Plastix or wax of your choice to the headlight. you really have to put some elbow grease in it. it took me around 2 or 3 times waxing on and off to get all the streaks gone. and WOW it looks sooo much better. And since i am the laziest man in America on the other side i used a Buffer to wax out the streaks from the other side....heres the finished product




Clean headlights+very dirty truck=my truck Hope this is helpful and on this you have to take your time.

This was probably the first thing I did when I got my Coma. 3M makes a plastic cleaner and polish that is just tops! Wish I had before and afters. No sanding needed!! Just clean headlight or any light for that matter(plastic), dap cleaner on a rag, rub in small circles, let it haze and remove with microfiber cloth. Same steps for polish. Now I payed 10 bucks for each bottle, but I live in Hawaii, so it won't be that much in the mainland. The results are amazing! Takes bout 15min per. I used it on a buddies Jeep Cherokee that was really bad and made them look like new! I also used it to shine up my plastic chrome, sideview mirror covers and chrome lettering. DO NOT TRY ON PAINTED PLASTIC LIKE THE GRILLE. Also, does not work on the ABS plastic that is on ur bumper or stock fender flares. Other than that, I highly recomend it. Aloha.
