Only thing I find annoying, especially with the S/C, is how the low gears seem to hesitate kicking in if you giver gas around 20-30 kph. I've noticed it a few times when I merge onto a highway. Probably something that manual shifting or a valve body change could fix but it's not that big of a deal to be honest.

For slow stop'n'go traffic that is less than 40 mph, I use 4
Anything over 40 mph and consistent moving traffic, I use D
For me, there is less jumping in/out of overdrive that sometimes slams the tranny and I haven't really seen any major affects to my mpg.

Uhh, that's the whole discussion isn't it :notsure: Truck converter unlock and goes right to 4 under the slightest throttle, why not just leave it at 4? No big deal to me really since I maintain my truck perfectly and I don't think it would cause more wear and tear either which way.

I was refering to his 35-45 mph comment. When I'm going into the wind there is load placed on my truck. For whatever reason, maybe it's the tune they flashed or other mods I've done, I've noticed at speeds from 70 kph to 100 kph I'm not getting weird downshifts like I used to into the wind or up small grades.

Of course my truck still shifts in traffic :jerkoff:. I'm not saying the S/C changes that at all, dink.

Glad to see you love calling me a piece of shit, so really go :brianr: yourself you little piece of :crapstorm:.

I like having a grown up discussion without all the child talk. I'm 6' 2" and 210 lbs, I'm not a little piece of anything really so thanks for the personal jabs.

I've also took the liberty of bolding a couple of your comments up there where you are changing your story, now I know you are full of it.

^ :D. This guy. Just like the guy who can't seem to get his car to go anywhere in Night mode right?

Day mode seems to work just fine though for him.

4 or D, the truck will still move forward. Do whatever floats your boat. No one's watching or cares what you have the truck in anyways.

My first comment. Does the bolding help you. Enough of this crud, why are you being a jerk. Disagree or agree with my comment. Don't call me full of shit when I'm just relaying my personal experiences that you have no bearing on.

The guy got under my skin for sure. Don't know why he needs to call BS on a perfectly legit comment.

I think everyone has overlooked one important factor. Toyota engineers are pretty smart folks. I'm betting there is a good chance they made the shifter be able to switch between D and 4 so easily.

Before anyone goes on a rant of "yea but then when you put it over into 4 it goes down into 3 easy too"......no, it doesn't. Not quite as easily as just a quick flick over and out of D......

Side Note: How did we make it 3 pages without one single "You really like the D " comment?? :D

Same. I don't want to get offensive, but the combination of being called a BS'r and the emoticon really got me going. My bad.

    :drunk: Let's carry on.

well while these two get a room to deescalate... :duel:

I use 4th when im going roughly 40 because whether you call it hunting or torque converter locking/unlocking it drives me nuts.

Drives me nuts too!!! I keep it in 4 up to 55-60. If I'm on a road that I know I won't be stopping much I'll put it in D. Where I live now I never use D. Only when I leave town and hit the highway.

It feels like 4 is "sport" mode. I find the shifts more crisp and quicker... Might be just in my head

Well he is large after all :p.

Anywho so while we are talking transmissions and how they behave what is the difference between the advertised down hill control(?) on the TRD Offroad and the way the transmission tends to engage a lower gear automatically down hill. I thought that was down hill assist or is down hill assist a brake thing when your off roading?
