Wet paint look?

Hi everyone 2012 owner here, my paint is still shiny but I want that wet paint look on it.

What product can I achieve that with and what other products as far as buffers or cloths do I need. New to this

You are going to need a few things. You will never get that deep gloss if you need paint correction. The only way to do that is with a buffer. Normal process would be to wash,clay,polish,seal,wax.

If you dont need paint correction and i can almost guarantee you do if you havent had it professionally detailed in the last 6 months than you can try this.

After a wash and clay you can try a good sealant. After that you can try a good wax that get that extra depth or pop your looking for. I like p21s for this. Again, this wont help if the underlying coat need correction.

Easiest, quickest way that I've found... Turtle wax Ice spray wax (not the spray detailer, but spray WAX). It's wipe on wipe off. Amazing shine and pretty good longevity. I know this is an old thread, but for future searchers.

 

I'd recommend looking around Only use microfiber towels when touching the paint to dry or remove wax as typical terry cloth towels will scratch

But when washing use a two bucket method with a microfiber wash mitt to prevent scratching, believe it or not traditional sponges can really scratch the paint



Then to safely buff or wax the paint you need to clay bar it to remove all bonded contaminants, after washing the paint still isn't perfectly clean



Then polish using a dual action polisher (you can skip this step if you don't want to spend $200 on a polisher) or you can apply by hand but it won't remove defects in the paint

Then use a foam applicator pad to apply a wax, use whichever one suits your budget or purposes, I use pinnacle souveran wax to get my black truck looking truly wet and to add depth to the paint:

As mentioned earlier, autogeek is a great site. Mike Phillips has some great how to articles and threads in the forums. Also, check out autopia.org. A lot of great information there also.

Attached are pics of mine. First is roof as a work in progress, so you can see the condition of the paint in the foreground. Next is the roof polished. And last is the hood cleaned, polished, and waxed. Products used were Megs Gold Class wash, Megs clay kit, Menzerna intensive polish, Menzerna final polish, and Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax. Hardware used was a PC DA buffer with Lake Country orange pad for both polishes. Wax was done by hand.
