I didn't realize the baseline model has no remote to lock/unlock the doors..

Possible to buy one and program it, as with many cars these days? Prefer OEM but whatever.. other than this little oversight, liking the truck alot so far. Soon a camping trip to borrego I'm thinking..

The keyless entry is nice, worth the coin to have it installed ;)

The truck won't just accept an OEM one...?

Hmm... It should, to my knowledge. Maybe head down to your dealership and see what they can do? I have no remote, I just stick the key in every time and manually lock. Didn't get an SR5 so I don't even think it'd be possible for me to get a remote but a friend has suggested I go to my dealership. Maybe that would work for you, worth a shot!

EDIT: Re-read your post. Sounds like you may not have an SR5, like me. An SR5 is basically an upgraded package on a regular tacoma. Has power locks, power windows, and stuff like that. I'd still see what the dealership says. If not, keyless entry and things of that nature can be installed for a pretty fair price!

Yep same deal, got baseline Tacoma cuz its the one lowest to the ground for loading up the bike..

Power locks and windows. Just no remote. Strange..

Surely an OEM can be added, I'm thinking.

haha ignore all that, after 5 months i went back and traded my very, very baseline 4cyl 2wd for a TRD with quickshifter, entune and tow package etcetc.

just thought id go ahead and make this post cuz with my luck at some point someone would be like hey, arent you one of the guys with the new 4cyl? and id be like well, see, what happened was..
