Resis don't directly affect your ride quality. They hold extra capacity of oil so they run in am operable temp longer. Honestly in the desert I'd say don't hesitate for them.... They get hot quick if you push them at all.

***The following statements are my opinion, what you do is YOUR choice, its your money.

There are numerous threads and interwebs articles on RR shocks and their purpose. The short answer is they are for more cooling to prevent fade (and they look cool, cause race truck) :D

Most of us on here aren't running long stretches of whoops for hours on end at high speed. Sure there are a few guys that do, but the majority of us do not. The RR is not necessary for the occasional weekend warrior. I've personally ran my 2.5 front and 2.0 rears for hours on many trips this year from Box canyon to coke ovens, 7 springs to sheep's crossing and even CK with very short breaks and I'm yet to feel any fade. These shocks are fantastic with or without the RR and you will be incredibly happy with either route you go.

Dude I don't do whoops and I've got both the fox resis and the icon resis hot enough to cook hotdogs in the summer

I'm not here to argue whether or not the shocks get hot during wheeling. I'm just answering his questions with my own experiences. Jake, you are quite different then most people on here, everyone knows you have wheeled the piss out of your truck and not the typical weekend warrior.

How about the ride difference between 2.0s and 2.5s? Anyone driven both? Jamie...?

Inner diameter spring, shaft and shock body are all larger with the 2.5. I can't tell you any difference cause I run both 2.0 & 2.5

Interesting info there guys. I talked to Josh Wednesday. He's a pretty cool guy and knows a ton. He recommended me 2.5s in the front. He said Icons are great for what I'm looking to do. Depending on cash I'll go 2.0 or 2.5 in the rear with dakar leaf pack.

Believe it or not, a lot of the groups that wheel around here push it just as fast as I do. Crawling I might do a bit more than a lot here, but it's the high speed stuff where resi's count.

My honest opinion is... you're going to regret not buying them, if nothing else just for the looks when you look back later, eventually you'll end up selling them for 40-50% what you bought to upgrade later. Buy once, buy right.

I totally understand and agree with you guys, but this isn't the end for my truck. I just want a lift and to be able to play more right now. I don't and won't have the money for a while to make it what I want it to be. Later on when I'm out of college then yes, I will buy right and buy what I want. But for right now I'm just looking to upgrade my suspension over stock while keeping within my 'budget'.

We can argue this point all day and no one is person is wrong. Go with what works for you and what makes you happy. If you want to go 2.5 with resis all the way around, do it!
If you want to build slow on a budget, go for it! Not many people can just go full build to their dreams right out the gates. Every one of us has put money in many times over and will continue to do so cause that's how builds go.
