Here is the thing. I know someone who has a set of the same tire as mine (Hankook Dynapro ATM, his are 8 ply) but in LT265/70r16 and they have 25k on them....still look almost new. Mine have about 6-7k and if i scrubbed all the deep mud out, you'd see that they still have the little nipples all over the sides and look pretty much brand new.

I don't know anyone who has had the generals long enough to say whether or not they will make it to 60k. But i will say that my household only has hankook ATMs or general Grabbers so those are probably the best cheaper AT that you can get.

My problem with the generals is this:

    1. They say right on the General tire website that these tires are NOT rated for heavy snow. I don't know about you but i've been through some pretty deep snow in mine and i don't want to lose that ability just because i might want 5-10k more life in a set of tires. :|

    2. They don't have an LT or P notation anywhere on them. So i can't tell without reading the whole sidewall just what they are. Most of them are 2ply and i have no idea how they last 60k but if they back it up with a guarantee then by all means it must be possible.

Personally, i ruined a set of 2ply firestone destination ATs on a pothole....so i will never go back to a P rated tire and i prefer to have as close to 10ply as i can get. You may not need anything that crazy thick with your specific needs. You would more than likely be just fine with the regular 2ply general grabbers.

On another note, i never really look at the mile counter that the tires say they will last. I've never had a tire last what it said it would....mostly because of my driving habits.

The bottom line, if you commute your truck constantly and see only light to mild snow/offroading then go with the Generals and you should love them even then, you'll probably be fine in the snow...i just worry too much lol.
But if you want a tire that i can tell you will really work and last better than most tires go with the Hankook. Both are a meaty and good looking tire but i prefer the looks of the hankook. The general almost looks like a knockoff of the BFG ATs IMO

I agree with you for the most part, but I'm just thinking that the generals may get better mileage. But like you said it all is relative to driving habits. I'm not too worried about snow.. I didn't have any problems last year with these POS Bridgestone Duelers. That being said... The Hankooks seem to be more tried and true. On discount tire's website, the Hankooks have an 8.8 average with over 100 ratings between the P and LT tires, and the Generals have and 8.2 with only 8 ratings lol

I have a feeling I might end up with the Hankooks. I haven't heard anything bad about them (not that i've heard anything bad about the Generals ether..) but I have only been able to find one person who has them, and it seems like every third person on TW has Hankooks. There's a shit ton of them.

    I hate decisions.

It was pretty badass. Whenever I see a cool truck I want to like wave or something and then I remember that mine is practically stock and they'll probably think I'm just being weird.

I hate decisions as well lol.

The ONLY complaint i have heard about the hankooks was when someone bought them online with no roadside protection plan/warranty and the tires absolutely would not balance. They looked like they had sat on a shelf for some time and just didn't feel quite right. That person sold them to a farmer who beat the piss out of those tires on his farm truck and never cared if they shook lol.

Yea, I mean in all honesty, I'm sure I'm better off with either of them than I am with these stupid Bridgestones. haha

Not 100%, but I think i'll end up with the LT. That's what I was thinking originally and like you said, it'd be better to have it and not need it than have P rated and wish they were LT. especially because I currently have a screw in my front driver's side tire from driving around construction sites. :anonymous:

Well the difference per tire was like 6lbs for me. 2ply Firestsones were 40-41lbs 10ply hankooks are 46-47lbs so if i get any lighter of a wheel, i will instantly get that smaller rotating weight back. I want a wheel around 18-22lbs where as my current steelies are 29lbs

I can't find the weights on the Hankooks anywhere  What size are you running? I'm stepping up to 265/70/17's (same as 265/75/16). I know the General's in an LT at that size are like 56lbs a tire

Gotcha. Finally found the weight on Wal-mart's website of all places.. theyre right at 50 lbs each. that's not too bad for a 32" All-Terrain LT tire.

Not at all. I don't think P rated would be much lighter or cheaper in either brand to be worth it

I picked up 2-3 mpg when I switched over to Grabbers! I hadn't seen 300+ miles in a looong time! I love mine so far, give my truck more of a "expedition rig" look to.

Don't go with a 2 ply tire... Thats what my duratracs are and the side walls suck...

This was my own fault... Tire was not filled to the correct PSI but this still should not have happened
