MARYSVILLE, Wash. — As many as seven people were injured and two were killed in a shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, a school of 2,500 students in Washington state, according to reports coming out of the Seattle area.
FOX31 Denver sister station KCPQ in Seattle was reporting that the school, which is about 40 miles north of Seattle, was placed on lockdown at 11:45 a.m. MST Friday, and that at least two had been airlifted away from the scene.
Though reports varied on the amount of individuals injured, the Seattle Times was the first to report that two students, one of which being the shooter, were dead. The newspaper was frequently tweeting unconfirmed reports about the possible number of those injured.

The Times was also reporting that one of the students was transported away from the school with a head wound.

A Marysville police spokesperson confirmed that the shooter was a student, that police believe that individual was the lone gunman and that the individual died from self-inflicted wounds.
Police and emergency vehicles could be seen around the school Friday morning. Shortly after 12 a.m. groups of students were seen walking away from the school with their hands in the air.

Eyewitness reports indicated the shooting took place in the school’s cafeteria and that the shooter used a pistol, not any sort of rifle. But that information could not be confirmed by police as of 1:30 p.m.

i have a lot i'd like to say but it's all way to political. i will say gun free zones don't work and this is just another example. it is a shame these kids died its a shame kids got injured its also a shame all these kids are now traumatized. i hope all wounded recover well

Thoughts are with all of the kids and families.
Had the Ottawa shooting, then yesterday in NY two officers attacked by a guy with a hatchet... Seems like everyday something is happening like this. Chrissy Teigen was right... Just another day... Very sad truth.

This is terrible. The shooter deserved to die in a fire. I don't understand why gun free zones don't work (better than not). If it reduces guns in that zone or gives police or officials the grounds to disarm people who should not be armed, it helps. I don't think things get better when every person with a mood disorder, mental disorder, or a short fuse has a gun. Maybe armed teachers would have meant one or two less people gets shot, or maybe more would have been shot in the crossfire. Maybe a teacher loses their temper at kids and goes on a rampage. Anything's possible. My main point: The shooter should have died in a fire.
