Everything.... Anyone remember the shooting at Santana High in Santee,ca. a few years back ?? The kid (Andy Williams) was pretty new to the area after moving in with his Dad from his mom's place, Andy was a polite ,quiet kid that tried in vain to fit in to new surroundings & as you could expect was a target of torment & teasing/bullying , especially from one of the "popular" kids that kept stealing his skateboard... Day in/day out Andy put up with this bullshit, apparently he had made his grieviances known to his Dad & school officials but little if any action was taken...So, there he was, young & alone to deal with the daily hell that this schools environment dished out... Well after months of this he finally "snapped" as some could say, I don't think he snapped, I just think this poor kid was beaten down so hard for so long he probably woke up one morning, thought about what his day was going to consist of & decided he wasn't going to be a victim anymore, the popular kid that kept stealing from him was the first to die....

I don't approve of his method of dealing with his issues but i fully understand why he did what he did & the events that brought things to a violent end....

The fact that is is sensationalized on the news, over and over every time it happens. Few remember the nameless victims, but we all remember Lanza, or the Tower Shooter.

Apparently this kid was suspended from school, then came back to get revenge.

That's what happened with POS Kip Kinkle here at my High school. I watched them take him out in handcuffs (I was taking college courses at my old high school) and I said to everyone "that little asshole will come back pissed" and he did!!! I drove by the school the next morning on my way to work and saw kids running out of the school and my 1st thought was dickhead Kip???? Then I turned radio on and heard shooting and did a u-turn and went back .My little bro was in the cafeteria when it happened, then the kneecap of the girl he was standing next to blew off and my brother ran!

I remember it like it was yesterday

Agreed. The 24 hour news loop and the fact we are so connected via interwebz makes it seem like this is happening more often, when in fact our homicide rate is the lowest since the 1960's

Very sad, but with the lack of parenting, and a growing violent nature of entertainment (games/movies/tv/internet), it really doesn't surprise me to see so much more violence from kids then there used to be.

But violent crime and school shootings have declined since the 1980's

It seems like a lot more because of how shitty the media combined with the 24 hour news cycle

What was the reason for being led away in cuffs from school ??

I ask this because it's the usual reaction I hear from the public when this shit happens , I mean was this kid a life long discipline problem wherever he went ? Or was it more like the case I described above ?? People seem to be too quick to judge from the knee-jerk reaction you can expect when something like this happens, seems most times after the smoke clears the facts start coming out about constant harrassement/bullying, etc: Not defending anyone just saying 99.9% of the time theres alot of underlying factors that lead to these violent ends..

It's amazing to me how people in schools suspend kids for shit like chewing a waffle into a gun shape and then let a child get bullied into commiting suicide while the bullies have no consequences at all

    He brought a gun.

His parents were amazing, I went to school with his sister, great family. He just snapped. Killed his parents and just left them there in the house.

I'm not sure I buy that. I don't remember hearing shootings/killings/suicides occurring on a weekly, almost daily basis. The news media has always brought these tragedies to life.

His parents were teachers, they lived a few miles from us. My little brother went to school with him. Insane shit!

When I was in school and we had problems, we walked to the park and beat the living shit out of each other. After we were done, We shook hands or said alright alls good and we never talked to each other in school ever again and went on with our lives.

BINGO !!! That is pretty much exactly how it went down in Santee, I get the pain, anguish the parents of a slain child have, its tragic...But I'm betting they had the attitude of "My little johnny wouldn't bully anyone, we raised him better than than that!"... & all the parents just piled on this kid for what he had done without a question being asked as to WHY this kid shot the place up.. Nope, as far as I'm concerned here in San Diego courts railroaded this kid & held him up to the villagers for a public stoning, make him the example, wrong on all counts

Exactly. Parents and teachers didn't know and when people talked about it at schoo lit was "off school property" so out of sight out of mind.

Instead of sitting here sure of yourself waiting for others to bring you proof that you're wrong, why not do a quick google search and see for yourself what the statistics say?

According to the statistics, school shootings are on the decline. However the reporting of school shootings is on the rise. In the past these were horrible, but still local incidents. Now even small things to do with guns and schools gets reported everyday. Why? because the press is no longer about information, it is about money, and guess what? Fear sells. They throw a big scary headline on the front page, people see it, buy it because they are scared for their children, and believe everything they read without doing any research of their own. I mean why would you do research? The news report just told you everything you need to know right? WRONG! Never fully trust "helpful advise" being SOLD to you that you did not go out to seek yourself.
