I'm sure showing the person who do these shootings on the news 24/7 for a few weeks has a sick appeal to some people. Instead of quietly killing themselves in their basement they kill as many people as they can so they get their 15 minutes of fame.

Most people can't name a single person who was shot in a school shooting but most people remember the people who did it... Harris, Kleibold, Lanza, Holmes etc.

Although I'm sure it's political BS, the timeline of events is correct. It's interesting none-the-less.

Ok, I have been proven wrong, that in fact school shootings are on a decline.

It could be asked why certain people who are doing the bullying & harassment are allowed to do so until some poor bastard that has been looking for help has had enough & wants it to stop... Harassment/bullying is something I personally didn't have to put up with but my brother (who is older by 2 years)is a little slow, spent his school years in special ed. & was battered & ridiculed by other students with the usual "Hey retard". & other hurtful slang terms, you have NO idea how many fist fights I got into defending him, so I may be a little sensitive towards the whole school bullying thing, its hurtful & used to piss me off to no end (still does really) & I can easily see how & why "Little Johnny who never does anything wrong". Gets his brains splattered & others involved as well, again not defending any violent retribution, just saying I understand how people get pushed into that mode..

Honestly I got it pretty bad in elementary school. One kid was kind of the rig leader and he treated a few people pretty badly. One day he punched me in the back of the head on a field trip in the changing room at the pool and I turned around and beat the living shit out of him. We both ended up suspended even though I was defending myself.

Like I said earlier it's really sad that kids get suspended for chewing a waffle into a gun shape and then other kids can make someones life a living hell and the administration completely ignores it. Every time something like this happens it seems like the common denominator is that the person who does it was bullied really badly.

The trend is probably not bs as it's similar in California. I found this 1960-2012 data and charted it in Excel (starts about the middle of your charts). The "shall issue" data point is probably just coincidence. We don't have a true Shall Issue in much of the state (some less populated areas have sheriffs that will issue). Most of the high population areas are "May Issue", which means they'll give you one if you're a huge political donor.
