Ahh the good old "A buddy of a buddy" hook up. How much do you care about your truck? Coz thats exactly what you're gonna get, "pretty cheap". But hey, your truck.

I painted my wife's car with Valspar and it came out pretty good if I say so myself. Pick up the primer/base/clear at your local pro auto paint store. Be prepared for sticker shock, the stuff is expensive. I did the whole job myself with about 1/2 gallon of base coat. You'd probably need about a gallon for your truck.

Here is the first wet sanding

and fresh from the paint booth, it will never look better than this.

I didn't know how much I'd need so I bought 1/2 gallon of primer, 1 gallon, base and 1 gallon clear for around $500. Like I said the stuff is expensive. I used all of the primer and 3/4 of the clear. I wanted the paint to be really deep looking and that's why I used so much clear. I did the project as part of the local high schools adult learning program. You could use their tools and the instructor was there to help with any questions. It was worth every penny of the $140 fee. In the end I figure I got a $3000 dollar paint job for about $800 and a whole bunch of my time.
