Sailors drinking too much -- hard to believe.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

We're mortgage free and glad of it. Refi'd once to lower the APR, but paid extra to still end up with the same number of years total. I once asked a CPA friend what to do, get a 30 year or 15 year, pay off early etc. She said "smart money says to finance for as long as you can because the dollars you pay back with will be worth less." Then I asked what mortgage she had; "15 year, and we pay extra each month - I hate being in debt!"

    Yeah, I was shocked.

Yep, both our refi's were to lower rate. Second was after I retired from active duty and the second career money picture came into focus. I've heard the smart money thing before, but yeah, we lowered rate and went 15 yrs. Looking to have it paid off in 8-10. Hate debt and can't count on anything anymore. :(

    Charlie:
My mortgage was sold four times and finally ended up with Wells Fargo. Glad it is paid off and I am mortgage free. I did not like dealing with Wells Fargo but I had no choice. I have never had a second mortgage or a line of credit although I briefly looked at a line of credit 2 weeks ago. Wife said we are paying cash for the kitchen remodel.

Looking forward to another 12 hour day today working at the polls being a judge. Our 18 person team is pretty solid and everyone pulls together to get the job done.

Charlie, that Vinnie guy sounds like one to be concerned about.
How are you feeling, all things considered? Hope you're still getting out of there today.

Tom, How many days are the polls open there? 12 hrs sounds like a long day any more, used to be my regular shift most the time on active duty watches. I'm getting soft.

Ken, how was breakfast with the gang yesterday, have any scrapple? :)

Good morning Ken and Rob. It is a long day and I could bring a book if I wanted to but that would not look too professional. I am a Provisional Judge so I only see voters if there is something wrong with the information in the system for the voter. I am not very busy so I sometimes do time as a greeter or a runner that takes the voter to the machine and makes sure all the information on the Voter Authorization Card, paper slip, is correct and the voter can in fact vote. All three jobs are easy. I really do not want to work as a Check in Judge or a Chief Judge.

Looks like the Pacific Northwest will be getting pounded in the next few days with rain and snow. Hope the remains of Hurricane Ana do not make it all the way to Alaska.

    Me too.

We're getting a trace last night/this morning, but it's not amounting to anything. Hope the serious stuff holds off 'til after Halloween for the kid's sake. Always have to design costumes to fit over winter coats here. ;)

    Hi Rob & Tom,

[IMG] two eggs over easy, scrapple and rye toast with coffee:D...Good way to start the day .

Keeping busy at the polls help to make time go by faster:D...
X2 on Hurricane Ana not making it to Alaska...

I hope the white stuff and rain hold out for a dry warm Halloween for you and the grandkids:thumbsup:...I told my son to get some boxes and paint them up like the "BoxTrolls" for Halloween costumes. Can get them over heavy coats or if it's warm out it will still fit:D...

Have a good day all [IMG]

    Morning all:
Wonder how many illegals are registered to vote? UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Too late for most on here. I always read that it was best to take a 30 yr. mortgage, then pay on it like it was a 15 yr. That way if anything were to happen only the smaller monthly payment would be due, and if all went well it would be paid off in 15 yrs.

Too bad for John-A BANK IS NOT YOUR FRIEND!

about the drunks. I was drafted and made a MP. Sent to Korea, I spent a little time dragging in drunks. One night I brought a drunk in to see the desk sargent. He was not at the desk, so I was able to get the drunk up to the desk without his being seen. Only his head and shoulders were visible above the rim of the tall desk.

After being chewed out for not having his uniform shirt on, I was told to take him away. As we left the room, it became apparent to the desk sargent that the guy was only wearing a t shirt. No pants, no shoes, no socks, no GI boxers. He had be dancing on the roof of a Korean guard shack when we picked him up.

We had rings in the concrete floor to chain the violent drunks to.

It may clear off here today. It has rained for days, but not this morning.

    Good day all.

Stay there as long as necessary and get everything checked out that you possibly can. You might as well get a complete overhaul while you're there. Get it all over with, then when you do go home you can rest up and concentrate on getting well and feeling good.
    Prayers still coming your way.
