for those of u that are winch familiar,

how much weight is really saved with synthetic line vs steel cable
I know it says 1/7 weight of the line, and on Amazon it shows 98 lbs and 75 lbs for xrc 10 reg and comp series, does that sound about accurate, 20 somethin lb difference?

 

I'm not sure about the weights but I know the synthetic would be safer in the event of a break so I personally would get synthetic

 

Please tell me your "winch decision" will be based on more than "rope weight"..

How often will you pull that "rope/cable" out; just when you get stuck or on a PM schedule....will you maintain your "choice" of rope; wiping it down and tightly re-wrapping it after an "oops moment" or just winding,go back to playing and then forget it...

These "facts" should be as strong in your decision.

 

it's primarily based on cost, i've come across a synthetic 10k for $50 more than a steel 9500lb winch, don't actually have anything to mount it on just yet, so debating the pros and cons of synthetic line, basically whether or not i should even get it just yet or wait, i know i want a hawse fairlead, and it's gonna get an avg of .3 pulls a year

Do you have a go to tech at WCT? I got a noise coming from my driver steering and don't have the time to go see Jason in Sanford. I want to avoid "well you have all this aftermarket shit installed, it's probably that".

Yes Jason, it's the same noise I sent you that video out in Colorado, it showed up again last week. Want to get it fixed before the camping season starts, that and I'm planning another hefty road trip up to Maine/NY in March.
