Stupid question of the day...

A spring compressor is used strictly for DIY assembly of the strut and coil spring, correct? Therefore, if I spend the extra $100 to have Toytec assemble them for me so that I receive assembled coilovers, my friend and I should be able to do the install without the compressor.

Still in the process of learning and watching some of the write-ups and vids on the Net is like reading tea leaves. I haven't found instructions for dummies.

2 inch add a leaf, OME 885x on 5100 shocks
stock upper control arms and alignment is within spec, caster 1.6 so a bit low.

I'm not sure which one of those part number's is the add leaf in the rear but I did install it. I have a ARB bull bar bumper and a warn VR10,000 steel cable up front, and always have work supplies/gear in the back. The ride is amazing.

Are you running trail armor & how much lift did you loose or what did you do to regain/maintain lift?
I'm planning on running 4x innovation slider's, and a duel battery up front, Not expecting to loose that much lift (if I do I'm just going to drive it)
Tire & wheel specs & rub or what you did to eliminate rub.
265-75r16 no rub at all but I do take my mud flaps off when on harder trails. no spacers
Are you still running a sway bar?
Yes, part of my job is driving a lot in the mountains, colorado has a lot of turns.

I do have a question about my CV's, Has anyone installed a diff drop? I know how people feel about them and I Don't want to install one or derail the thread into a diff drop thread (there are plenty of them). My cv boots (the inside ones) have rub marks not the outside ones they are not touching at all I'm not sure when they rub (HWY I'm guessing) if I look at them wile it is sitting in the driveway they are not touching. Who else has rub like this? How long has it been leaving marks? I have a friend with the exact same lift and truck and he has rub marks with over 50k on the lift never changing the CV's. I have 15,000 on my lift.

as OZ said, thats correct...If I could give you my experience...I would pay the extra 100 next time I do a full suspension swap. Its a bit of a PITA using the spring compressors, I could have saved myself two hours and a lot of cuss words if I would have paid the 100. It might just be because I got the stiff 886's, maybe the lighter ones would be easier.

 

Not sure I could have done the 886 coils with my compressor. The 885s were not that bad, but it made me nervous. I could tell the 885s were probably their limit.

In hindsight I would have paid the 100 as well. I had to do both of mine twice because I had the coil seat on backwards. Got to read directions...

 

I paid for assembly but we are going to be taking mine off soon, swapping to 886 coils and putting the 885 coils on another guys setup. We are just going to compress them on the truck like the YouTube video shows. ( I have seen the video posted in this thread many times when this convo cones up)

Looking to order some parts from Amazon. I have a 2006 PreRunner w/ V6. Wanting to just do a Better Rear Suspension Up-Grade for now. Will be purchasing up-grades for the front in the near future. My PreRunner is sagging quit a bit with the leafs bending Down instead of Up. My rear suspension is always bottoming out. It has become a real PITA! Who is the Best Manufacture and which item/part # should I get for the rear springs? Should I get a Compete Spring Pack or just the Add A Leaf kits? What about the Rear Shocks? Not sure which brands to purchase. From what I have read seems EMU and Dakar are some good Manufactures. Any help will be Greatly Appreciated.

Really depends how much mula you want to spend. I cant say anything about a add a leaf as I've never had one but I'm very happy with the the complete spring pack from ome, the Dakar pack. Paired with the sport 9000 shocks at the front setups its a very good bang for the buck from what I've read. It's the reason I went with it. Could always do the Dakar pack with bilistein 5100's but there not really designed for that pack. Hope that helps a bit.

 

Anyone else have issues pulling the front leaf spring bolt? Mine will twist, but will not pull out. Any thoughts on how to get it out?

I can't get behind it to hit with a hammer because the muffler is in the way. I tried a c clamp, that won't budge it

OK. Can I Please get a Part # and Manufacture of Spring Packs I need? Also, does it come with the correct length U-Bolts? If not can I get the Part # for them too? And last, which rear shocks are needed for the above spring pack (part #)?

Go look them up. OME leaf pack info , ubolt stuff and shock info . I order from wheelers because they've been good to work with in the past. You probably want to order from Amazon for prime or something.

 

Wanted to update previous post.
I am now at 2.5-2.75 inch front lift after the 885x on my access cab.

 

Correct, OMETAC04LKS contains the 880's. 881's might not be enough for all that extra weight. 882's are perfect on my 2.7 reg cab, I have a winch, bumper, full set of skids and sliders. I started out with the 881's but grew out of them pretty quickly. They are easy to switch out and hold their value so you if you gave the 881's a go and later decide to upgrade them you can switch pretty easy.
