So I'm installing my new dakars today and the front leaf spring bolt won't come out. It will twist, but not pull out. Any thoughts? I can't hit it with a hammer because the muffler is in the way, and I tried a c clamp with no luck.

 

All the same to my knowledge.

Do you have an air hammer you can put on the bolt and hammer it out? Or I have a long chisel that might get you past the muffler and then you can hit it.

 

turns out that the front bolt is threaded all the way, so I had to un-screw it the whole way. I was not expecting that. Took a while to figure that out. UCAs went in in about 15-20 min each, and one leaf pack is in, Ill do the next tomorrow morning

 

Nice to hear it was an easy install. Must be because there wasn't any electrical.
Don't forget to just get your U bolts snug and then set the truck down on the wheels. Bounce it a bit to settle it in and torque the U bolts down after that.

 

would it be bad to drive to your place tomorrow and tighten them then? or would that be too far

 

Only difference I know from 08-09 is the 09+ are now the LED tails.

 

DO NOT ATTEMPT. Just jump on the bumper a bit and tighten them down. We can torque them when you get here but make sure they are tight before you leave.

 

ok ill make sure they are really tight before I head down. Ive got a story for ya tomorrow about taking the old u-bolts off. and some electrical questions as always
