Thats a pretty good deal on a solid package. I went in to the shop with my mind made up to buy the Ruger American. But left with a Savage XP with the Nikon BDC package. The one thing i dont like about the savage is the flimsy plastic clip which hold your magazine in the gun. Also the rings in the combo package are a little cheap.
None of that stopped me shooting a doe at 200 yards last Saturday and enjoying the tenderloins last night :)

The options are either try to sell my lever gun to fund a new hunting rifle (either bolt or lever 30-30) or have a gunsmith refinish my lever gun and hope midway/sportsmans guide/cabelas has some 35 rem in stock soon and buy a few boxes.

I do like my levergun but considering it'll be at least $150 to clean it up and refinish it, I have to wonder if I should just dump it, get the savage for $425, then find another lever in 30-30...because 35rem availability is terrible.

Or I could just say fuckit, keep the 35 and buy a used post-64 Winchester '94 for like $300.

Just buy the new one, though a 336 is a better choice if you want to mount a scope on it, then again, that's just my opinion

And anyways, I've got a Bulgarian Makarov for sale right now good condition with 2 mags and a holster. I'm so including 650 rounds of ammo, I'm asking 450 for it and having trouble selling it. Anyone have any ideas why? It's a good I price from what I've been able to tel

I have been shooting alot of PMC and Blazer Brass through my Sig 1911 45. Decided to order some Sellier and Bellot and Fiocchi and compare. I cleaned the gun today after pumping about 200 rounds through and was stunned at how much cleaner the S&B and Fiocchi were. There was very little residue left in the gun.. The Fiocchi has noticeably more recoil than the S&B, though, so its S&B for me.

I'm usually PMC and Federal for target. Was the noticeable recoil due to higher grain? I'm sticking around 165 for my .40, but recently bought 185 & 155 to test them all.

Possibly the same reason I can't get $600. for a G37 (45GAP) with four mags, 1000 rounds and CT lasergrip and holster.:notsure:

No offense, but I'd chalk that up to being 45GAP more than anything else. If it were ACP I bet it'd sell a lot quicker. Proprietary cartridges are tough.

Speaking as a consumer at least, if I were presented with the option of a .45ACP or a .45 GAP I'd go ACP just because of ammo availability.

On the other hand, $600's a heck of a deal. GLWS.

45GAP was produced for Glock. A couple other manufacturers produced pistols in the caliber, but have since quit...and the only REAL market for that is possibly someone that worked for one of the 4 LE agencies that carry a G37 and has leftover ammo or accessories...

I love Glocks and plan on adding a couple more to my collection, but 45GAP is not on my list of calibers to buy

Pretty sure you can get a 40 conversion barrel for the 37. That's the only way I can see it getting any real use

I don't know if that's possible or not...while the 37 is on the same frame as the 9mm/40/357sig pistols...the slide etc is ever so slightly wider to account for the larger 45 projectile

Thanks for your input man. The end goal is to have a long range SHTF weapon. Since I've last posted, I've been hitting the research hard. I've never been a fan of manipulating an old fashioned hunting rifle, and the "AR" platform in general suits my muscle memory best. But, reading your input now after digging all weekend, that same word keeps coming up over and over again..."heavy". I'm going to go back to the drawing board on this one an reconsider. I am not looking to buy off the shelf weapons this time around, I want to build my own Frankenstein.

Thinking for now to just go .300 AAC 10.5" on my AR-15, so as to buy time for this build. More input is welcome and hoped for. Thanks.

No offense taken. That's what I meant. That's probably also why Crazyengineer is having trouble selling the Makarov.
I bought the GAP a long time ago when it looked to stand a chance and a lot of LE agency's were using them. I actually really like the round, but I never shoot it because of the cost of replacing the ammo. I decided to keep it anyway for the novelty just like my Caracal C.

I don't think so. I have a G23 anyway, so that's not gonna happen. Thanks for the attempt at helping though.:)
