For some reason this one made me think of a flying Robocop. Has an armoured look to it! Cool photos for sure.

What's the consensus on a copter for filming that's a reliable, quality step up from a DJI Phantom 2? We're using that one to great effect right now on a job. I'd ideally like to mount a DSLR or a Black Magic.

High dollar stuff! If you want one out of the box like a phantom 2, I'd go with the S900. You can get the copter, an A2 flight controller and a black magic gimbal for $3,800. You still need batteries and a radio though.

Sony Nex build .. been procrastinating on this guy. Still needs about $1k in it before it is RTF.

Probably an S900 like Red said.. There are other options out there but they are less ready to fly and require constant tinkering (albeit an S900 will also require some tinkering...)

I can't find any fly aways with the higher dollar flight controllers (wookong-m, A2) and that's what I would run if I had an S900.

Took me 2 hours to get this thing 90% assembled, doesn't look too bad for a $250 2 axis dslr gimbal but I stripped 2 of the screws :frusty:

DJI sucks ass, but so does 3DR so it's a crap shoot... DJI is more RTF than 3DR in most cases so it's easier for those not wanting to dick with stuff.

My pro multis fly a 9k autopilot and I trust it... I don't trust the el cheapo stuff from 3DR or DJI.
