    im in the market for a truck and i want to get a tacoma. theres a good deal on a local 1997 tacoma v6 4x4. is there anything to look out for on that year? or anything in general to look out for on 4x4 tacomas? thanks.

    ok ill look out for that is there any tacoma specific problems these trucks had? it has 250k on it ive been told toyotas go for a while though.

    Make sure certain maintenance items have been done:

    • Check front lower balljoints for play. This needs to be done with the truck on a lift or frame on jackstands. Worn balljoints can separate without warning and give the truck a faceplant on the highway.
    • If automatic trans, make sure the radiator has been replaced in the last 10 years or factor cost into it (concern is antifreeze getting into the trans cooler section).
    • Make sure timing belt has been replaced within last 90,000 miles or factor cost into it.
