I can believe it.

If VW wants into F1 Audi is the most appropriate brand for them to use. VW Group is huge, they spend lots on racing and R&D already, and they compete directly with Renault and Mercedes in a bunch of markets. They've pretty much beaten endurance racing to a pulp and may well be ready to move on. They have Bugatti which was also a Gran Prix entrant in the past, but Audi will get them more advertising bang/buck.
